Watch Akira Toriyama Draw Dragon Ball Z’s Son Goku

Dragon Ball creator and Dragon Quest character designer Akira Toriyama draws, inks, and paints Dragon Ball Z’s Son Goku.

The video was released back in 2016 as part of Shueisha’s Jump Ryu manga artist collection focused on Toriyama.

According to Kanzenshuu, the video was filmed back in June 1995 at the Nagoya Civic Art Galery in Aichi Prefecture during the Akira Toriyama World exhibit. While it is has been sped up to be only 2 minutes and 13 seconds long, the original video was 16 minutes and 14 seconds long.

The original video also featured Toriyama’s first editor Kazuhiko Torishima “asking Toriyama questions, and laughing at the horrendous condition of his pen holder, while he draws.”

A print of the drawing also came as part of the Jump Ryū collection.

Toriyama is continuing the tale of Son Goku in Dragon Ball Super. He’s joined by artist Toyotarou. The latest chapter, Chapter 57, was released on February 20, 2020. It saw the return of Son Goku to Earth as Lord Moro and his minions plan on snacking on the life force of Earth’s defenders.

The next chapter is expected to be released on March 20, 2020.
