Vin Diesel’s Fast 9 Delayed To April 2021

The Fast and Furious franchise announced the upcoming film starring Vin Diesel will be delayed until 2021.

The announcement was made via the Fast and Furious Saga’s Twitter account.

The statement begins,

“To our family of Fast fans everywhere,

We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga.

That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we move have to move the release date of the film. It’s become clear that it won’t be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May.”

They then detail the film will be delayed to April 2021.

“We are moving the global release date to April 2021, with North America opening on April 2. While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration.

Moving will allow our global family to experience our new chapter together. We’ll see you next spring.

Much love,

Your Fast Family”

While there is no specific reason actually stated other than that people around the world will not be able to view the film, the implication the nearly year delay is due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

The film was originally scheduled to be released on May 22, 2020.

It stars Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Helen Mirren, Michelle Rodriguez, Lucas Black, Jordana Brewster, Michael Rucker, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris.

The film is directed by Justin Lin with a script written by Daniel Casey.

What do you make of this nearly year delay?
