Frozen 2’s Josh Gad Claims “150,000 Americans Are Unnecessarily Dead” Because of President Trump’s Coronavirus Response

Actor Josh Gad recently took a break from his vacation to go on a Twitter rant about President Trump and the “150,000” Americans who “are unnecessarily dead” due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.

Gad, who provides the voice of Olaf in Disney’s Frozen series, lamented, “I don’t want to do this. I’m on vacation, but frankly, I don’t see an alternative.”

He then added, “In 2016, misinformation helped elect a man with zero qualifications. 3 and a half years later, 150,000 Americans are unnecessarily dead because of his incompetence and our Democracy is hanging by a thread.”

The actor then claimed that the only way Trump would win in November was “if we all took his bait” and asserted that President Trump “is once again, with the help of foreign assistance and his GOP cronies doing everything in his power to play on irrational and unsubstantiated fears like mail-in-ballot fraud.”

He also speculated that President Trump “is going to try to do what he did in 2016 to create a ‘but her emails’ logic for not voting for Biden and we all have one choice…to not let him distract us.”

In a moment of hyperbole, Gad would describe President Trump as “the single greatest threat we have ever faced in modern American politics (and some could argue possibly the greatest threat ever to the democratic norms of our nation has taken for granted for over 240 years)”.

He would then state that President Trump thought “all of us our [sic] stupid” before observing that his victory in the 2016 elections “proved him right.”

The discussion then turned to the economy, as Gad referenced recently released statistics which show negative economic GDP in the United States growth due to the current pandemic and equating them to “Great Depression numbers.”

Gad would then observe that “we have a little over 95 days to stay focused and not let bullshit bots, bullshit lies, and bullshit tactics distract us from a shared common goal of the majority of Americans…to bring this madness to an end.”

He then warned his followers that “He cannot win again. It’s all too much.”

He would conclude his thread by describing President Trump as a “demagogue”, “buffon”, “racist”, serial liar”, “a man who blindly serves Putin” and a “a man who only loves himself” before attempting to rally his followers to vote.

Gad had previously been rumored to play The Penguin in the upcoming The Batman film, but that role would eventually go to Colin Farrell.

More recently Gad issued a joint statement alongside his fellow Central Park producers announcing that they were removing Kristen Bell from the role of Molly Tillerman because her skin color did not match the skin color of Tillerman.

That statement began, “Kristen Bell is an extraordinarily talented actress who joined the cast of Central Park from nearly the first day of the show’s development –  before there was even a character for her to play  – and she has since delivered a funny, heartfelt, and beautiful performance.”

It continued, “But after reflection, Kristen, along with the entire creative team, recognizes that the casting of the character of Molly is an opportunity to get representation right – to cast a Black or mixed race actress and give Molly a voice that resonates with all of the nuance and experiences of the character as we’ve drawn her.”

The statement indicated that Bell would remain part of the show, but not in the role of Tillerman, “Kristen will continue to be a part of the heart of the show in a new role but we will find a new actress to lend her voice to Molly.”

The statement then continued, “We profoundly regret that we might have contributed to anyone’s feeling of exclusion or erasure.”

“Black people and people of color have worked and will continue to work on Central Park but we can do better. We’re committed to creating opportunities for people of color and Black people in all roles, on all our projects – behind the mic, in the writers room, in production, and in post-production,” the statement added.

The statement concluded, “Animation will be stronger for having as many voices, experiences, and perspectives as we can possibly bring into the industry. Our shop and our show will be better for respecting the nuances and complexity around the issue of representation and trying to get it right.”
