New Rumor Claims To Reveal When The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Will Drop

A new rumor claims to reveal when The Mandalorian Season 2 trailer will arrive.

This new rumor comes from LRM Online who details that their source tells them that the trailer will arrive during the first round of the NBA playoffs.

LRM Online’s Shockey writes, “According to our source the trailer for the second season of The Mandalorian will drop during the first round of the NBA playoffs. The date that they are looking at is either August 21st or August 22nd.”

Shockey goes on to speculate that this release date is also planned to try and rain on WarnerMedia and DC Film’s upcoming DCFanDome experience.

DC Comics reiterated that DCFanDome is happening on August 22nd. In a tweet earlier today they teased the fan experience writing, “Save the date for the first of its kind, immersive global fan experience in 9 languages featuring exclusive reveals with our biggest stars across the DC Multiverse.”

They also add that their announcements will only be available for 24 hours. The tweet explains, “Free for all fans to join for 24-hours only on August 22 at DCFanDome.com.”

Editor-in-Chief at Discussing Film Jacob Fisher speculated based on the rumor that the trailer would more than likely drop on August 21 if not earlier.

He wrote on Twitter, “August 21 seems a likely date, if not earlier in the month.”

Fisher then explained, “I imagine that Disney will want to debut the trailer on a massive venue to get eyeballs so the NBA playoffs make perfect sense.”

As for what we can expect from The Mandalorian, Disney and Lucasfilm have been quite mum on the project recently.

However, there were plenty of rumors earlier this year. Probably, the most prominent one involved the appearance of a live-action Ahsoka Tano played by Rosario Dawson.

That rumor originated from Slash Film, and Dawson would eventually address it in an interview with Variety.

She told the publication, “That’s not confirmed yet but when that happens, I will be very happy.”

She added, “I’m very excited for that to be confirmed at some point.”

A separate rumor, also from Slash Film, indicated that Timothy Olyphant will play a character named Cobb Vanth and he will be wearing Boba Fett’s armor.

Cobb Vanth is a character from Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath novel series. He’s a former slave who became a lawman and the de facto mayor of Freetown that was formerly called Mos Pelgo, a settlement on Tattooine.”

That rumor actually followed another one, this time from The Hollywood Reporter indicating that Jango Fett actor Temeura Morrison would be appearing on the show as Boba Fett.

The Hollywood Reporter stated, “Sources say Morrison will play Boba Fett, the famed bounty hunter who first appeared on the big screen 1980’s Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and who seemingly died in 1983’s Return of the Jedi as he fell into a sarlacc pit.”

There was also a rumor that Katee Sackhoff would appear in The Mandalorian Season 2 reprising her role as Mandalorian warrior and leader Bo-Katan Kryze. Sackhoff voiced the character in both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

This rumor also came from Slash Film, who indicated that Sackhoff had actually already “filmed her role back in February before Hollywood production shut down due to the global coronavirus pandemic.”

Sackhoff was asked about whether she would reprise her role in April saying, “I mean, who wouldn’t!”

She added, “I grew up watching Star Wars. I grew up obsessed with Star Wars. Part of what I loved about playing Starbuck was that she reminded me of Han. I absolutely love that world and it’s part of the reason why I took The Clone Wars and wanted to play Bo to begin with.”

However, she noted, “That being said, of course, there are people that are going to jump to conclusions that Bo is going to be in The Mandalorian because on paper, it does make sense. But you know, we’ll just have to wait and see and cross all my fingers and toes. You never know.”

The character is connected to The Mandalorian via the Darksaber seen in Moff Gideon’s possession at the end of Season 1. Before Gideon, Bo-Katan Kryze was the last known character to have wielded the Darksaber after it being given to her by Sabine Wren.

I theorized back in May that if the Sackhoff rumor was true, it could be in a flashback sequence showing how Gideon acquired the Darksaber and maybe revealing more about the Great Purge and the Empire’s battle against Mandalore.

As for what we do know about The Mandalorian outside of rumors, Giancarlo Esposito discussed his character Moff Gideon and hinted at what to expect from him in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

He teased that his character could possibly be Force sensitive and even a descendant of Darth Vader.

Esposito stated, “Because is he that fallen hero? Is he a descendant of Darth Vader? Who is he? Was he one? He knows all about everything and you will have to wait to find out. And he’s actually pretty good with that Darksaber too.”

As for Season 2, he detailed Gideon would continue his pursuit of The Child aka Baby Yoda and The Mandalorian aka Din Djarin.

Esposito stated, “Just don’t let me catch you in Season 2. But you never know. I just want to spend all my time with him. As close as I will get. And believe me I’m good at getting close.”

It’s possible we might learn more about what the direction of Season 2 will be in Disney’s recently announced The Mandalorian publishing program.

That publishing program features six new books, the first by Phil Szostak titled The Art of The Mandalorian (Season One).

The other titles include The Mandalorian: Original Novel by Adam Christopher, The Mandalorian: The Ultimate Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo, The Mandalorian: Allies & Enemies – Level Two Reader by Brooke Vitale, The Mandalorian 8×8 Storybook by Brooke Vitale, and The Mandalorian: Junior Novelization by Joe Schreiber.

In addition to these publishing titles they also detailed that they will also be publishing The Mandalorian-inspired comics at Marvel Comics and IDW Publishing.

The Mandalorian Season 2 is expected to arrive sometime in October on Disney Plus.
