Laura Dern and Sam Neill Share Set Photos from Jurassic World: Dominion

The Park is open again and the dinosaurs are running wild. You know what that means: the band is back together. Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and also Ian Malcolm are returning to finish what was started in 1993.

Granted, Jurassic World: Dominion probably won’t be the last Jurassic Park movie – and really won’t if producer Frank Marshall gets his wish. But it should be the last time Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum grace screens as their characters.

Filming is underway once more on the latest installment in JP’s sequel trilogy and Neill has shown up to work. He even brought an “old friend,” his favorite hat.

Neill shared a photo of the hat – the most iconic headwear for an adventuring scientist this side of Indiana Jones – he wears as Grant in the first film and Jurassic Park 3 on Twitter.

He tagged Dern, Goldblum, Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, director Colin Trevorrow, and Amblin Entertainment – Steven Spielberg’s production company.

And he’s not alone: Dern is on set too soaking up the nostalgia. She took a photo that made it to Facebook of her and Neill’s personal chairs with their character names embroidered on them.

Dern may have positioned the chairs herself and could simply be having some fun. But this might be a subtle hint Grant and Sattler will rekindle their romance, raising the stakes for their appearance. Only a theory, but it would be perfect, wouldn’t it?

Jeff Goldblum has social media, but hasn’t yet joined in on Neill and Dern’s act. Maybe he has something nostalgic up his sleeve and will foist it on us soon.

Principal photography on Jurassic World: Dominion is taking place at Pinewood Studios in England. It was on hold thanks to the pandemic, but restrictions in the UK are slowly being lifted.

Cameras will also roll again soon on The Batman over there.

If Dominion proves successful, Frank Marshall hopes it will be the dawn of a new era for the franchise. “The dinosaurs are now on the mainland amongst us, and they will be for quite some time, I hope,” he said recently to Collider.

Does that mean we have a Triassic Park or World to look forward to? Who knows?

What do you think? Do you feel the nostalgia Neill and Dern are channeling? Let us know.
