Rumor: Cyborg Actor Ray Fisher Wants Changes Made to Script for The Flash Film

While it seems likely that Ray Fisher will reprise his role as Cyborg in the upcoming The Flash, despite his recent outspoken criticism of Justice League’s production team, a new rumor claims that the actor has made some demands for changes to the film’s script.
The last few months have found Fisher on the warpath against top Warner Bros. brass over his treatment on the set of Justice League under back-up director Joss Whedon, who was brought on to finish the film after Zack Snyder abruptly left the project.
Fisher has also accused then-DC President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns of threatening his career after these concerns were brought to light and claimed that the President of DC films “attempted to throw Joss Whedon and Jon Berg under the bus in hopes that I would relent on Geoff Johns”:
In response to Fisher’s allegations, Warner Bros. released a statement that stated ““Mr. Fisher never alleged any actionable misconduct against him, WarnerMedia nonetheless initiated an investigation into the concerns he’d raised about his character’s portrayal.”
Furthermore, their statement claims Fisher is not cooperating with the assigned investigator, as Fisher currently believes was hired by the studio and not the parent company, WarnerMedia.

According to a new rumor reported by Cosmic Book News, this tangled web of controversy could have ramifications for The Flash.
While Warner Bros. statement makes it seem as if the conversation between Hamada and Fisher focused solely on the actor’s complaints regarding Justice League, CBN highlights a section of WB’s statement that brings up the Andy Muschietti film and Cyborg’s supporting role.

The section confirms Cyborg rejoins members of the League – Ben Affleck’s Batman and Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen definitely, but possibly others too – for the time-paradox adventure.
“The two had previously spoken when Mr. Hamada asked him to reprise his role as Cyborg in Warner Bros.’ upcoming Flash movie, together with other members of the Justice League,” it reads.
“Mr. Fisher recounted disagreements he’d had with the film’s creative team regarding his portrayal of Cyborg, and complained that his suggested script revisions were not adopted,” reads the excerpt highlighted by CBN. “Mr. Hamada explained that creative differences are a normal part of the production process, and that a film’s writer/director ultimately has to be in charge of these matters.”
Though the creative team members and the nature of the creative differences between them and Fisher were not specified, fans have long believed that former The Flash directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldestein left the project due to assumed creative differences with star Ezra Miller

However, it’s possible Fisher could also have been part of the problem, as CBN postulates Fisher’s unhappiness with the studio stems from the potential for Cyborg to be recast in a supposed reboot of DC’s cinematic universe.
Given that The Flash is shaping up to be a time-travel heavy story that delves into the concept of DC’s multiverse, a reboot of the comic company’s cinematic universe may not be out of the question.

It’s also possible that Fisher could be generally unhappy with the reduced role Cyborg has been given in The Flash, as it is known that the character had an expansive role when writer Rick Famuyiwa was attached to the project.
Unfortunately, Fisher’s butting of heads with the studio most likely does not help his odds of scuring an expanded presence in the story.
