Daily Dot Social Media Editor Anna Maria Asks Why Harry Potter Creator J.K. Rowling Has “Not Gotten Jumped Yet,” Wishes She Gets Punched In The Face

Daily Dot social media editor Anna Maria recently took to Twitter to question why J.K. Rowling has not been jumped and wished physical violence on the Harry Potter creator.
At the end of August, after Rowling published a statement on her return of the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Award, Daily Dot social media editor Anna Maria publicly discussed her hopes that “JK Rowling gets punched in the face today” in a pair of now-deleted tweets.
“I hope her nose breaks and it gushes all over her clothes,” Maria stated. “I hope her teeth get knocked out and she can’t find them.”
Maria concluded her thoughts on Rowling in a second tweet by asking “cis Brits to step it up” and assault the “violent transphobe” for being “too comfortable.”
Following Anna Maria’s comments a number of fans have turned to book burning to protest Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s continued criticism of contemporary transgender politics.
On September 16th, Newsweek brought attention to “a new TikTok trend [that] has emerged this week” which saw former fans of Rowling’s burning her books to protest her support for the concept of biological sex, which many have claimed are transphobic.
In a now viral video, Tik Tok user @elmcdo posted a video of themselves burning a collection of Harry Potter novels alongside a caption noting their belief that “while the reader’s perspective is an important part of interpretation and meaning, it is impossible to completely divorce a work from it’s [sic] creator.”.
“The positive impact that J.K. Rowling’s work had on millions of readers does not negate how her hateful lobbying has affected the trans community,” the video asserted.
Though the original post has since been removed, Twitter user @SamuelJJack uploaded the above copy of the video and shared his opinion that “the Trans movement has gone full Nazi.”
“Book burning isn’t a good look!”, he continued. “J.K. Rowling can speak freely in the same way you can chop your Johnson off and decide to become a woman.”

The act of burning Rowling’s books was further supported by popular Irish popstars Jedward, who stated that “JK’s new book is perfect to burn next to a Romantic fire.”

As referenced by Jedward, the latest round of outrage directed towards Rowling is based on the appearance of a “transvestite serial killer” in her latest Cormoran Strike novel, Troubled Blood, published under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.
This detail was first brought to public attention in a review of Troubled Blood from The Daily Telegraph that concluded with the inflammatory assertion that the book’s moral “seems to be: never trust a man in a dress.”
However, according to journalist Nick Cohen, “No honest person who takes the trouble to read it can see the novel as transphobic.”
In a defense of the novel written for The Spectator, Cohen noted that “Transvestism barely features” in the novel, but “when it does, nothing is made of the fact that the killer wears a wig and a woman’s coat (not a dress) as a disguise when approaching one of his victims.”

Cohen further supported his stance by sharing the rather tame excerpt that was used as “justification for the belief that the book’s moral ‘seems’ to be ‘never trust a man in a dress.’
“He had his failures you know. Penny Hiskett, she got away from him and gave the police a description in ’71, but that didn’t help them much. She said he was dark and stocky, because he was wearing a wig at the time and all padded out in a woman’s coat. They caught him in the end because of Melody Bower. Nightclub singer, looked like Diana Ross. Creed got chatting to her at the bus stop, offered her a lift, then tried to drag her into the van when she said no. She escaped, gave the police a proper description and told them he’d said his house was of Paradise Park.”
“Creed mentions the advantage of lipstick and a wig in making women think he’s ‘a harmless old queer’ when Strike interviews him, and that’s about that,” Cohen concluded.
The burning of Rowling’s books is just the latest example of the anti-Rowling fervor that has gripped social media in 2020 in light of Rowling’s decision to be more outspoken on her views on transgenderism.
Most criticism of and disagreement with Rowling has amounted to nothing more than public insults and various calls for cancellation.
Despite this criticism, Rowling’s Harry Potter series tops the charts for Amazon’s most read fiction books. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is currently number 2 and has been on Amazon’s Top 20 Most Read chart for 175 weeks.
In fact, all of Rowling’s Harry Potter books are on the top 20 chart. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is ranked 3rd, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is 4th, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is 7th, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is 8th, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is 11th, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is 13th.
