Jurassic World: Dominion — Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum Will Be Important, Says Director

If you were afraid Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum – who faced this problem in Fallen Kingdom – were going to show up in Jurassic World: Dominion without much to do (except scream), Colin Trevorrow says you don’t have to worry.
The director of the film shared in his Collider interview – which we already reported on at length – the returning Alan Grant, Ellie Satler, and Ian Malcolm have major, important roles we all can look forward to.

Trevorrow says we’re all underestimating how big and how major. “I think people may be underestimating the size and importance of Laura Dern and Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum’s characters in this movie,” he said.
He didn’t get very specific but he continued that they will interact in a way unseen in 30 years.
“It is very much an ensemble and that element and the ability to take these beloved characters from almost 30 years now, and understand how they interact with each other in the context of a world that we’ve really never seen before and have not been able to witness until now is very exciting,” Trevorrow stated.

He added that Dominion is the Jurassic movie he’s longed to make. “This is the movie that I’ve been waiting to make, from the beginning,” he said.
“It’s the one that we have spent the past two movies building to,” he continued. “It really was part of a larger story and part of the design.”
We don’t know too much about where that larger story culminates or the fullness of the design, but we do know humans will be living side by side with dinosaurs and there may be some new species.
Goldblum couldn’t say much when he had time to chat with Insider about his part but did reveal there are new dinos he had to keep secret.
“The three of us were in a tiny little space and we were being menaced by — I can’t even tell you — a surprising faction of prehistoric creatures that you’ve never seen before,” he said, calling it a mystery to be solved by those seeing the film.
Goldblum also revealed he and his returning costars bond in what could be their characters’ final moments.

“We were acting in a life and death situation,” he said. “We think it might be the last moments of our lives and we’re all bonding with each other in an emotional and somewhat hilarious way.”
If it is the end of these iconic characters, and they do go out in a blaze of glory, we won’t know for nearly two years. It hit the wire Tuesday Jurassic World: Dominion is delayed until June 10, 2022.
