At New York Comic-Con, Yen Press announced they will be publishing the Sword Art Online Platinum Collector’s Edition.

This deluxe limited edition box set contains 20 volumes of Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online light novel series.

Yen Press explains, “this special boxed set includes exclusive prints and poster featuring gorgeous art by abec!”

They also add, “With two beautiful collector’s editions volumes, this boxed set is an absolute must-have for fans of the series!”

In a video showing off the boxed set they specifically detail that it includes “the first 20 light novels, 20 art prints, and a fold out poster.”

When asked on Twitter whether it will only be available in the United States and Canada, Yen Press confirmed it will be available internationally for retailers to purchase through Diamond Book Distributors.

However, they noted they do not know which retailers will end up purchasing the book.

Sword Art Online follows the story of Kirito and Asuna as they initially explore the world of the Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (VRMMMORPG) Sword Art Online.

However, when the game goes live, players who have logged into the game discover that they can not log out of Sword Art Online. Players are then challenged by the game’s designer Kayaba Akihiko to climb the floors of the virtual world of Aincraid in order to regain their freedom.

But climbing the floors of Aincraid comes with extreme risks as the players are told that if they die in the game, they will also die in the real world.

The Sword Art Online Platinum Collector’s Edition goes on sale on December 22nd. However, you can pre-order yours on YenPress.com.
