New Job Listing Suggests WB Montreal Could Be Working On A Superman Game

When it seemed like the game being teased by Warner Bros. Montreal was a nonexistent phantom or cipher after a year of nothing but cryptic hints, players and fans were greeted with the reveal of two new games at DC FanDome: Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

It was clear one game, which was all some thought we were getting, was Batman-related, based on the frequent teases of developers and voice actors working for WB Montreal.

Despite rumors, none very concrete to begin with, a next-gen Superman title looked unlikely. Arkham series developer Rocksteady had a pitch WB reportedly rejected.

Or so we thought. A job listing at WB Montreal discovered by YouTube’s The Arkham Channel may imply the company is working on something new starring the Man of Steel.

The listing for a Senior Game Designer says they are looking for someone who can be “responsible for designing and driving development of player characters for a “third-person open-world action game.”

They add the game is a new “IP, AAA title.” This doesn’t mean Superman is getting a game per se but it is raising eyebrows.

The tune is familiar. Chatter permeates online about a new Superman game for this or that system at launch, turning out to be a new game or sequel with Superman in it as a supporting character. Such is the case with Injustice 3 and Kill the Justice League.

Oh, we have Supes in a brand-new high-quality game but, if his woes in gaming and subjectively questioned relevance in pop culture today weren’t enough, he’s the bad guy.

Arkham Channel urges patience for more clues in the coming months. They previously reported WB Montreal tried to get a Superman game off the ground and it went nowhere.

As for the selections gamers can look forward to, Gotham Knights is due out next year on PlayStation 4 and PS5, Xbox One and Series X, and on PC. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is slated for release in 2022 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and Series S.
