In an expansion of their roster of available talent and personalities, HWA recently announced that Heard would be joining the agency as an “exclusive” speaker, with her official profile touting her roles as “an actor, activist and humanitarian.

The HWA further describe Heard as “most passionate about including LGBTQ rights and fighting for the political, social and economic aid and rights for refugees and migrants.”

They also describe her as “an outspoken advocate for women’s rights and for the civil rights of survivors of all gender-based violence around the world [who] works with organizations that encourage survivors both personally and politically to come forward and reclaim their power.”

Heard’s hiring by the HWA comes a little over a month after Justice Andrew Nichol ruled against Heard’s ex-husband, Johnny Depp, in a libel trial against UK-based tabloid The Sun.

While Depp held that The Sun’s labelling of him as a “wife-beater” based solely on accusations by Heard constituted libel, Judge Nichol found that “although [Depp] has proved the necessary elements of his cause of action in libel, the Defendants have shown that what they published in the meaning which I have held the words to bear was substantially true.”

Since that ruling, Depp has been let go from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3, while Heard has continued to portray Mera in the DCEU and is rumored to be in talks with Margot Robbie to star in The Suicide Squad star’s upcoming reboot of Pirates of the Caribbean.
