WandaVision Showrunner Jac Schaeffer Confirms Marvel Studios Looks At Fan Theories

WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer confirmed that she and her team at Marvel Studios do indeed read fan theories about the show.
Schaeffer recently spoke with Heroic Hollywood to discuss the show.
When asked about whether or not she reads fan theories, Schaeffer responded, “We totally look at all of them and we have so much fun looking at them. I really feel like it would be cooler if I pretended like I didn’t look at them, but I look at them.”
“The writers send them to me, we send them to each other, it’s constant conversation,” she added.
Schaeffer would then discuss whether or not some of those theories have been correct or not.
She explained, “It’s really fun. Yeah so, some people have made some really great guesses at things. Some things are way off base. They’ve illuminated things that we didn’t intend but totally work, which is really hilarious when that happens.”

One thing fans shouldn’t expect is adherence to comic canon.
Back in July of 2020 she stated, “I’m not interested in adhering to comic canon that is discriminatory in any way or that violates my values system.”
She would go on to add, “When people react with hate, it saddens me. I think it’s a shame. But that’s not where I want to put my energy. I’m not interested in the loud, sour-grapes voices.”
In that same interview she also talked about the makeup of WandaVision’s writing room which has four women on a staff of eight writers. She described it as “incredibly intentional, and it was very much supported by Marvel.”
Schaeffer added, “I felt incredibly strongly that we needed women and people of color and people of all backgrounds and perspectives in the room. I believe — I think it is fact — that stories are better the more perspectives you have.”
The showrunner also stated, “I would like to see alternatives to violence in superhero movies. Maybe I would qualify that by saying, alternatives to glamorizing guns and weaponry. That’s one of the reasons that I love Captain Marvel — it’s all about inner power. And the destruction is not at the expense of human life.”
As for what her goal is with film and TV she explained, “I choose to be a part of projects that are about positive representation. We need to see women, we need to see people of color, we need to see nuanced experiences, and we need to see different perspectives on screen.”
“I choose to work with people who are interested in changing perspectives for the better, and putting a world on screen that is something we can aspire to and have conversations about, and moving in a direction that will create a world I hope will be better for my children,” the showrunner added.
More recently in a Q&A with Marvel.com, Schaeffer was asked what the best thing about being a Woman of Marvel is. She responded, “Power, baby. All the power.”
While, it’s more than likely this is just a joke, who can tell now that it is 2021, especially given her previous comments.
