Disney And Lucasfilm Fire Mandalorian And Star Wars Star Gina Carano, Still Employ Pedro Pascal Who Called Half Of America Nazis

Disney and Lucasfilm have fired The Mandalorian star Gina Carano over social media posts.

A Lucasfilm spokesman told Variety, “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future.”

The spokesman added, “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

A separate source told The Hollywood Reporter, “They have been looking for a reason to fire her for two months, and today was the final straw.”

THR also reported, “According to sources, Lucasfilm planned to unveil Carano as the star of her own Disney+ series during a December investor’s day presentation but scrapped those plans following her November tweets.”

YouTuber John Campea would also post to Twitter, “Ms. Carano had previously been implored to be more aware of the impact her social media statements could have on others and on those she collaborates professionally with. She indicated a resolve to do both and on multiple occasions has failed to live up to that commitment.”

Campea would later add that the above statement had been “Sent to me this evening.”

A rumor in January claimed that The Mandalorian executive producer Jon Favreau was protecting actress Gina Carano from others inside Lucasfilm who wanted her fired.

Scooper WDW Pro at Pirates and Princesses claimed, “The problem for all of those who hate Carano based on her worldview and political positions is that Jon Favreau isn’t publicly political… and word on the street is he doesn’t care one iota for the divisiveness.”

However, the scooper also questioned if Favreau would be able to continue to protect her, “The question now is whether or not Favreau can protect her — she’s an integral part of his series, and firing her would essentially indicate that conservatives can be purged from Hollywood in a step beyond what we’ve already seen (blacklisting).”

If this rumor was indeed true it appears that his efforts have failed.

A number of activists on Twitter, many who have been trying to get Carano fired from The Mandalorian for months, took issue with an Instagram Story post the actress made on February 10th.

One of those activists was the DiscussingFilm Twitter account, who wrote on Twitter, “#FireGinaCarano is trending worldwide on social media after Gina Carano shared a disgusting post that compared being a Republican to being a Jew during the Holocaust.”

The post in question featured a screenshot from the account  warriorpriestgympodcast that read, “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children.”

The post continues with a quote, although it’s unclear from whom, which reads, “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

It also included a photograph of a child with a blunt object chasing a woman in undress, taken during the Lviv pogroms of 1941.

While Disney and Lucasfilm have fired Gina Carano, they still employ actor Pedro Pascal, who plays Din Djarin in The Mandalorian.

Pascal remains employed despite the fact that back in November, the actor posted to his Instagram feed a meme comparing supporters of President Donald Trump to Nazis.

The meme read “Losers in 1865” next to the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia. Next it read, “Losers in 1945” next to the flag of Nazi Germany, officially called the flag of the German Reich. Finally, it read, “Losers in 2020″ next to a Make America Great Again hat.”

Pascal would eventually delete the post. However, he would double down on his views on Twitter.

First, he would encourage people to check out the meme.

Then in a follow-up post he would write, “Without restating the obvious you feel me about the MAGA hats right ?”
