New Rumor Claims Star Wars Plans To Completely Obliterate Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Story

A brand new rumor claims that Obi-Wan Kenobi will appear in the upcoming Andor show on Disney+.

If you are not familiar with the Andor show, it’s a Rogue One spinoff starring Diego Luna as he reprises his role as Cassian Andor.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy provided some brief details about the show back during Disney’s Investor Day 2020 presentation in December.

She stated, “One of the most exciting and ambitious new series we have coming to Disney+ in 2022 is Andor, a tense nail biting spy thriller in the Star Wars universe created by Tony Gilroy.”

“Tony’s incredible success with the Bourne Identity films distinguishes him as one of today’s best creators of the modern spy drama. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have him at the helm of this new series for Star Wars,” she continued.

Kennedy then revealed the cast, “Diego Luna will be back in the role of rebel spy Cassian Andor from Rogue One and he will be joined by a fantastic new cast that includes Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma.”

She  went on to confirm the show began production in London two weeks before her appearance at Investor Day 2020.

Notably, Kennedy did not mention Alan Tudyk, who played K-2SO in Rogue One, despite previously announcing the show at D23 with Tudyk on stage and declaring he was part of the show.

Tudyk would later reveal, he’s not actually in the show. Back in January, he stated, ‘They’re shooting it right now, I’m not in it.”

However, he did add the caveat, “But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I’ll end up in there.”

Now this new rumor regarding Obi-Wan Kenobi comes from The Illuminerdi and their writer Sean McLaughlin.

McLaughlin claims, “The Illuminerdi can exclusively report that Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi will have a reoccurring role in Andor.”

No other details on the show were revealed, but McLaughlin speculated that Kenobi’s role in the show could revolve around his connection with Senator Bail Organa and that he might be a “key contributor of intel for the growing rebellion.”

If Obi-Wan Kenobi is showing up in Andor, it means his entire story is about to be completely undone, obliterated even. Star Wars fans will remember that Kenobi was tasked with safeguarding Luke Skywalker and delivering him to his Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen on Tatooine.

Not only was he to safeguard Luke, but Yoda reveals to him that he has training for him and that he will teach him to commune with his master, Qui-Gon Jinn.

Yoda tells Kenobi, “To Tatooine. To his family send him.” Kenobi responds, “I will take the child and watch over him.” Yoda then says, “Until the time is right, disappear we will.”

Before Kenobi leaves, Yoda tells him, “In your solitude on Tatooine, training I have for you.” He continued, “An old friend has learned the path to immortality. One who has returned from the netherworld of the Force. Your old master.”

Kenobi responds, “Qui-Gon.” Yoda then states, “How to commune with him I will teach you.”

Not only did Star Wars creator George Lucas make it clear in Revenge of the Sith that Kenobi watches over Luke on Tatooine in Solitude and that the Jedi will disappear until the time is right, he had this idea since at least 1981.

At the Revenge of the Jedi Story Conference in 1981, he explained Kenobi’s background, “Ben takes one and gives him to a couple out there on Tatooine and he gets his little hideout in the hills and he watches him grow. Ben can’t raise Luke himself, because he’s a wanted man.”

It seems quite clear he hides out in the hills of Tatooine for years watching over Luke as he grows.

Go back to the original Star Wars film, when Kenobi first saves Luke he tells him, “Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan. Now, that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time. A long time.”

He adds, “I haven’t gone by the name of Obi-Wan since oh before you were born.”

Again, another clear implication that Kenobi hasn’t had any contact since he took Luke to Tatooine.

Although in Star Wars Rebels, he does kill Maul in the desert when the former Sith apprentice and Ezra Bridger come looking for him, but by that time Disney had taken over Lucasfilm and were already altering Star Wars continuity.

But even in his conversation with Bridger, Kenobi’s not inclined to join the Rebellion, although he is aware of Bridger and what is happening in the galaxy. He tells him, “One doesn’t survive as long as I have by being foolish or unprepared. Maul is an old adversary and a persistent one at that.”

But when Bridger wants him to join the Rebellion and tells him, “The Rebellion needs you. We need you to defeat the Empire.” Kenobi responds, “What you need, you already have. Unfortunately, you seem to be letting it all go.”

A clear indication he does not intend to leave Tatooine to aid the Rebel Alliance.

If this rumor is true and Kenobi is going to be interacting with Andor and the Rebel Alliance, it undoes Kenobi’s entire history that we’ve seen on the big screen.

It’ll just be another piece of evidence proving that Kathleen Kennedy and Disney have utterly destroyed Star Wars.
