Rumor: Hogwarts Legacy Video Game Will Allow Players To Create Transgender Characters

Hogwarts Legacy, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and Avalanche Software’s new take on the Harry Potter Legacy, was initially announced during a special PlayStation 5 event that took place in September of last year.

This new video game will see players creating their own avatar, and becoming a student at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry — which is probably a dream come true for fans of J.K. Rowling’s insanely popular Harry Potter series of fantasy books.

Initially, it was expected that the game would launch at some point this year, but in January it was officially confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy was being pushed back, and that the game is now expected to launch next year.

The first official trailer for Hogwarts Legacy didn’t really tell players much about the game’s premise — in fact, it didn’t even show any gameplay to give them an idea of what it looked like in action — but as time went on some new details have been shared by the developers.

According to the latest bit of information, and as reported by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Hogwarts Legacy will allow players to create transgender characters, revealing that players will be able to customise “their character’s voice, body type, and gender placement for the school dormitories.”

Schreier went on to state, “Some members of the Hogwarts Legacy development team have fought to make the game as inclusive as possible, pushing for the character customization and even for a transgender character to be added.”

“There was resistance from management at first, the people familiar with the project said, but currently the character customization is included in the game,” he added.

However, Schreier appears to imply this information is not confirmed writing, “A Warner Bros. spokesperson declined to comment.”

Nevertheless, Schreier details that players will be able to select whether they want to be a “wizard” or a “witch,” and this will actually determine the dorm in which they will be placed in Hogwarts.

The report, if true, appears to show that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Avalanche Software, not to be confused with the sublime Avalanche Studios, have decided to fully embrace gender identity politics.

While this has not be openly acknowledged by the developers at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment nor Avalanche Software, this seems like the kind of move they’re making only because Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling has been accused of being transphobic in the past — even when she’s actually made compelling points that objectively back her views on the matter.

Back in December of 2019, Rowling was attacked for supporting Maya Forstater, a tax expert who was fired after a series of tweets in which she expressed that men cannot change into women. Ever since, SJWs have been trying to cancel the Harry Potter scribe any chance they have.

Around the same time Hogwarts Legacy was unveiled, J.K. Rowling also came under fire after the renowned author used a transvestite serial killer in Troubled Blood, her latest book under the pen name Robert Galbraith.

This prompted Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to clarify that the author is not involved — not even in the slightest — in Avalanche Software’s upcoming Hogwarts Legacy, as the game will be featuring a brand-new story that was not penned by J.K. Rowling.

It doesn’t end there, as in February of this year, Hogwarts Legacy Lead Designer Troy Leavitt also came under fire when it was discovered that he was running an “anti-social justice” YouTube channel, which was first spotted by ComicBook.com and Unseen64 writer Liam Robertson; accusing him of being “a far right YouTuber.”

Hogwarts Legacy is unlikely to suffer from all of the controversy surrounding it; it’s Harry Potter after all, and most people will still buy the game regardless of what they think about J.K. Rowling’s views on transgenders or Lead Designer Troy Leavitt’s YouTube channel.

What do you think about Hogwarts Legacy allowing players to create transgender characters? Do you think the developers have added this feature in order to distance themselves from the controversy surrounding J.K. Rowling? Let us know in the comments section down below.
