Space Jam Sequel Will Be Woke, Cancels Lola Bunny And Pepe Le Pew

Space Jam

The upcoming Space Jam sequel starring LeBron is all but guaranteed to be woke as they have canceled Lola Bunny and Pepe Le Pew.

First, director Malcolm D. Lee revealed that the cancelation of Lola Bunny was a conscious effort.

He told Entertainment Weekly (EW), “Lola [Bunny] was very sexualized, like Betty Boop mixed with Jessica Rabbit.”

Lee continued, “Lola was not politically correct…. This is a kids’ movie, why is she in a crop top? It just felt unnecessary, but at the same time there’s a long history of that in cartoons.”

The director added, “This is 2021. It’s important to reflect the authenticity of strong, capable female characters.”

He went on, “She probably has the most human characteristics of the Tunes; she doesn’t have a thing like a carrot or a lisp or a stutter. So we reworked a lot of things, not only her look, like making sure she had an appropriate length on her shorts and was feminine without being objectified, but gave her a real voice.”

Lee concluded, “For us, it was, let’s ground her athletic prowess, her leadership skills, and make her as full a character as the others.”

If you thought it couldn’t get worse for Lola Bunny, EW’s Derek Lawrence explains, “New Legacy will find her having branched out on her own and reluctant to be pulled back in by her old team, and, chiefly, Bugs Bunny.”

Specifically, Lee reveals her reintroduction will be in the world of Wonder Woman, “We wanted to meet her with the Amazons, trying to find greener pastures for herself.”

The director concludes, “As she says in the movie, there’s more to her than just being a Tune.”

Not only will Lola Bunny, no longer be Lola Bunny, but some new character in a deformed skin suit of Lola Bunny, but the movie is also canceling Pepe Le Pew.

Deadline’s Anthony D’Alessandro reports, “He starred in the first Warner Bros. Space Jam movie back in 1996, however, Pepe Le Pew will not be showing up at all in the upcoming theatrical sequel Space Jam: A New Legacy on July 16.”

The report goes on to detail that they actually cut a “scene between Jane the Virgin actress Greice Santo and Pepe Le Pew, shot back in June 2019 for Space Jam 2.”

D’Alessandro goes on to report the decision to cut Pepe Le Pew came when Lee took over as director from Terence Nance.

Not only was the scene cut, but apparently Santo is upset that the scene was cut. A spokesman for Santo stated, “This was such a big deal for Greice to be in this movie. Even though Pepe is a cartoon character, if anyone was going to slap a sexual harasser like him, Greice wished it would be her.”

“Now the scene is cut, and she doesn’t have that power to influence the world through younger generations who’ll be watching Space Jam 2, to let younger girls and younger boys know that Pepe’s behavior is unacceptable,” the spokesman added.

Time to rewatch the original Space Jam with Michael Jordan. This one looks to be a complete and utter waste of time that spent too much time thinking about how they could inject woke identity politics into the film rather than creating a piece of entertainment.
