Batfleck might not go down with the Snyderverse ship, after all, as there could be a future for the fan-favorite incarnation of the Dark Knight if AT&T has its way, or so goes a new rumor.

According to Mikey Sutton, EIC of scoop site Geekosity, the parent company of WarnerMedia wants a continuation of Ben Affleck as Batman on HBO Max.

“I’m told that AT&T wants more than a Ben Affleck Batman movie,” writes Sutton in his new scoop. “They want a limited series wherein Ben Affleck has the time for his tale to unfold.”

The reason for this is actually more about DC and HBO Max’s competition with Marvel and Disney Plus than it is about the success of Zack Snyder’s Justice League or continuing the SnyderVerse. Sutton says AT&T, wanting to put a dent in Disney Plus as it were, is putting money and subscribers first.

Their main target is Falcon and the Winter Soldier. As Sutton notes, HBO MAX doesn’t have serial DC content equivalent to the MCU. The adventures of Marvel’s cinematic heroes carry on with the Disney streaming service, though The Snyder Cut was the first salvo in rectifying that.

Batfleck could carry that baton further or that’s the hope of HBO Max’s parent company, anyway, as Sutton claims “Apparently, AT&T sees greater potential in this going forward if it really takes off and Ben Affleck is willing to extend his time in the Batcave.”

Unsurprisingly, AT&T’s wishes are having an effect on The Flash, which is now in production. At first thought to be his final bow with DC, Ben Affleck’s portrayal of Batman was supposed to make the ‘lite-beer’ version of Iron Man’s Endgame sacrifice.

A symbolic “goodbye to the Snyderverse” rumored to written into the script of the Scarlet Speedster’s solo outing, Batman’s fate may have been rewritten and, with Sutton’s sources telling the scooper that Batfleck’s fate is “up in the air as AT&T heightens their interest in [an] HBO Max Batman series.”

For supporters of the #RestoreTheSnyderverse campaign, that has to be good news, as it now sounds like AT&T might be their biggest advocate.
