Season 1 director Kate Herron announced she would not be returning to the show for a second season back in July.

She told Deadline, “I’m not returning. I always planned to be just on for this, and to be honest, Season 2 wasn’t in the — that’s something that just came out, and I’m so excited. I’m really happy to watch it as a fan next season, but I just think I’m proud of what we did here and I’ve given it my all. I’m working on some other stuff yet to be announced.”

The director also revealed she would not be moving on to another Marvel project, but would leave that door open, “No, I’m just focused on my own stuff at the moment. I love Marvel and I’d love to work with them again, but my outing with Loki is what I’ve done with them.”

While the show was airing, Herron detailed that her goal for the show was to “acknowledge Loki was bisexual.”

She tweeted, “From the moment I joined Loki it was very important to me, and my goal, to acknowledge Loki was bisexual. It is a part of who he is and who I am too. I know this is a small step but I’m happy, and heart is so full, to say that this is now Canon in MCU.”

Herron accomplished her goal in the show’s third episode titled “Lamentis.”

In that episode Sophia di Martino’s Sylvie and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki engage in a conversation about their past romantic relationships.

Sylvia asks, “How about you? You’re a prince. Must’ve been would-be princesses or perhaps, another prince.”

Loki replies, “A bit of both. I suspect the same of you.”
