According to the official agreement shared by the Service Trades Council Union, Disney World “will require all active Employees whose duties include working on-site to be fully vaccinated by October 22, 2021.”

The document also reveals that this decision was made based on “recommendations of scientists, local, state and federal health officials and the Company’s own medical professionals that COVID-19 vaccines provide the best protection against severe COVID-19 infection.”

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. will make some exceptions for any individuals who are medically unfit to receive the vaccine, as well as those who have “a sincerely held religious belief” that forbids them from receiving vaccinations.

As per the recent agreement, Disney “has established a process to address requests for an accommodation related to the required COVID-19 vaccination due to disability or medical condition or a sincerely held religious belief, practice or observance.”

Those employees who refuse to get the COVID-19 vaccine — or simply refuse to show proof of vaccination — will be let go by the company, but still retain a positive rehire status until they “comply with the Company Policy on Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination.”

Just last month, The Walt Disney Company announced that salaried and non-union employees in the U.S. would be required to get the COVID-19 vaccine and that they would not be allowed to return to their respective jobs until they were fully inoculated.

“Toward that end, and based on the latest recommendations of scientists, health officials and our own medical professionals that the COVID-19 vaccine provides the best protection against severe infection, we are requiring that all salaried and non-union hourly employees in the U.S. working at any of our sites be fully vaccinated,” read the statement issued by Disney.

The company’s stipulation also dictated that all employees had up to 60 days to complete their respective COVID-19 vaccine protocols, adding that those who had been working from home would be required to show proof of vaccination prior to their return.

Additionally, Disney’s statement also included information regarding new hires, noting that they will also be required to be vaccinated before their employment begins, as “vaccines are the best tool we all have to help control this global pandemic and protect our employees.”
