Tom Holland Suggests What’s Best For Spider-Man Is A Miles Morales Film

Spider-Man and Peter Parker actor Tom Holland recently suggested that what is best for Spider-Man is for Sony and Marvel to do a Miles Morales film.
Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) and Spider-Man battle it out in Columbia Pictures’ SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME.
Holland’s comments came in a wide-ranging interview with GQ.
First, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal notes she has no interest in doing Spider-Man without Holland telling the magazine, “I’ve talked to him about doing, like, 100 more.”
She added, “I’m never going to make Spider-Man movies without him. Are you kidding me?”

However, Holland suggested they move on to Miles Morales saying, “Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film.”
“I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life,” Holland said.
He then added, “If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.”

This isn’t the first time Holland has made comments about his future as Spider-Man.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in October, the actor said, “We were all treating [No Way Home] as the end of a franchise, let’s say.”
He continued, “”I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you’d be seeing a very different version. It would no longer be the Homecoming trilogy. We would give it some time and try to build something different and tonally change the films.”
“Whether that happens or not, I don’t know. But we were definitely treating [No Way Home] like it was coming to an end, and it felt like it,” he added.

Holland further elaborated on that sense of finality saying, “We’ve been making these films for five years now. We’ve had such an amazing relationship, the three of us. We’ve been with each other every step of the way. We’ve done every single film, every single press tour.”
“So this one scene, [we didn’t know] if this would be the last time [we were all working together.] [It] was heartbreaking but also really exciting because we’re all moving into the next chapter of our careers,” he continued.
“So sharing that moment with them was maybe the best day I’ve ever had on set. I don’t think I’ve cried like that ever,” he added.

Earlier in November, while speaking with Total Film, Holland also discussed passing the torch to another actor.
He said, “When they cast the young kid in Spider-Man to replace me, whether it’s next year or in five years, I’ll take it upon myself to teach them about the responsibilities of being Spider-Man.”

Holland also claims that he doesn’t have a contract for new Spider-Man roles. He told Empire, “It’s the first time since I got cast as Spider-Man that I don’t have a contract.”
He added, “It’s just really difficult for me to talk about, because there are so many things I’d love to talk about that would help me embellish what I’m trying to explain. But I can’t because it would just ruin the film.”

As for what Holland’s future plans are, his Spider-Man co-star Jacob Batalon tells GQ, “He talks about being James Bond a lot.” He adds, “A lot a lot.”
Holland is also taking on the role of Nathan Drake in Sony’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the Uncharted video game franchise and he’s gearing up to shoot the upcoming Apple TV+ drama The Crowded Room about dissociative identity disorder.
GQ also reports that Holland has shown interest in playing prolific American actor dancer and singer Fred Astaire in an upcoming movie.
