Rumor: Jason Momoa To Appear In Wonder Woman 3 As Aquaman With Atlantis At Stake

It seems as if DC Films and WarnerMedia might not know what a ‘solo film’ means anymore – or at the very least, choose to ignore it because they know where the box office is – as a new rumor claims that Wonder Woman 3 will feature more DCEU heroes than just Diana herself.

According to an alleged leak script obtained by That Hashtag Show, who stress that their scoop is subject to change and may be based on a previous version of the film’s current script, Jason Momoa will have a role to play in the threequel and so does Atlantis.

Apparently, both the undersea kingdom and Themyscira will be in the path of a new shared threat, which is alleged to be Arion, a former hero and demigod who has gone insane for an unknown reason.

During the film, Diana is supposedly warned about him and his psychotic break by Asteria, the ancestor and sister of the Amazons played by Lynda Carter in Wonder Woman 1984 and who initially wore the film’s signature gold winged armor.

THS further claims that Asteria recruits Diana to help her find Arion. However, he eventually reappears, laying siege to Themyscira and its inhabitants before besting Wonder Woman in battle.

The Amazons defeated, Diana then goes to Aquaman for help, reasoning that they’ll be needing each other’s assistance when Arion sets his sights on Atlantis.

In turn, Arion will somehow destabilize the peace between Atlantis and Themyscira, risking tensions that could explode as they did in the Flashpoint storyline, though this could be a simple call back to the graphic novel instead of a full-fledged cinematic adaptation of the two kingdoms’ wargames.

As noted by THS, the script they obtained doesn’t say how much of a part Asteria has or if she even survives, nor does it sound like Steve Trevor will be in the film in any fashion.

However, Wonder Woman 3 could contain at least a passing reference to the Blue Beetle, as THS claims that someone named Jamie appears in the script, who they believe to be Jamie Reyes.

Of course, such an appearance by the third Blue Beetle, or at least his totem, is, at the very least, plausible.

Not only does he have his own movie in development that ties into the DCEU, but in the comics, Arion’s madness is caused by his past exposure to the hero’s power-granting scarab.

In the comics, Arion (Ahri’ahn) is a supporting character of Aquaman created by Paul Kupperberg and Jan Duursema. As the child of ancient Atlantean gods, he is a masterful mage as much as he is a master swordsman.

At various times, he has become a force to be reckoned with against Wonder Woman, Superman, Martian Manhunter, and Blue Beetle in his voracious pursuit of magical power that sometimes required the gathering of totems.

Arion is also an ancient being whose existence has been a mystery to the DCEU up to this point, so if he does eventually appear in the DCEU, he may be packing a few formidable surprises.

Again, as per THS, it’s important to remain cognizant of the fact their supposed script for Wonder Woman 3 may be well outdated, and the film may have undergone several rewritesto rework or mitigate some of these elements, if not outright eliminate them.
