Midler went after West Virginians in a tweet, where she wrote, “What Joe Manchin, who represents a population smaller than Brooklyn, has done to the rest of America, who wants to move forward, not backward, like his state, is horrible. He sold us out.”

She then continued her attack on West Virginians, “He wants us all to be just like his state, West Virginia. Poor, illiterate and strung out.”

Midler, who will reprise her role as Winifred in Hocus Pocus 2 despite being defeated and turned to dust in the first movie, would apologize about 30 mins later after receiving a ton of backlash on the social media platform.

“I apologize to the good people of WVA for my last outburst,” she wrote. “I’m just seeing red; Joe Manchin and his whole family are a criminal enterprise.”

She continued, “Is he really the best WV has to offer its own citizens? Surely there’s someone there who has the state’s interests at heart, not his own!”

While she would apologize for her comments about West Virginians, Midler continued to express her ire for Joe Manchin tweeting, “His indifference is immense. Like the rest of his family, he hasn’t a shred of conscience.”

Midler is the latest celebrity in a growing list who has decided to take out her anger on whole state populations because their representatives do not agree with their political beliefs.

Most recently, Muppets writer and producer Nell Scovell blamed Kentucky’s United States Senators following the horrific tornadoes that tore through the state.

She tweeted earlier this month, “Sorry Kentucky. Maybe if your 2 senators hadn’t spent decades blocking legislation to reduce climate change, you wouldn’t be suffering from climate disasters.”

“If it’s any consolation, McConnell and Rand have f’ed over all of us, too.”

Scovell would later claim, “My tweet has been twisted into something it is not. My hate is directed toward the senators from KY who have endangered all our lives with their reckless denial of science and toadying to corporate interests.”

“Prayers for the people of KY who are suffering along w/so many others,” she concluded.

Star Trek actor Marina Sirtis infamously claimed Texans got what they deserved when a freak ice storm hit the state.

Sirtis tweeted, “Don’t get me wrong, my heart bleeds for what Texans are going through right now but the mean girl in me says you get the government you deserve and they have voted Republican, across the board, for the last 20 years. #BetoForGovernor.”

In a follow-up tweet she added, “People are suffering because of a total lack of preparedness by the Republicans in Texas. My words are not making these people suffer. The politicians are.”

Sirtis would eventually follow-up on her original tweet writing, “I reread my tweet to make sure I didn’t say the Texans deserve to die.”
