Halyna Hutchins’ Father Says It Is Hard For Him To Understand How Alec Baldwin “Cannot Be Held Partially Responsible” For The Killing Of His Daughter On The Set Of Rust

Anatoly Androsovych, father of Rust’s Director of Photography Halyna Hutchins, has recently opened up about the shooting on the set of the film, declaring that it is hard for him to understand how Alec Baldwin “cannot be held partially responsible” for the killing of his daughter.

“I can’t understand the behaviour of Alec,” Androsovych recently told The Sun, wondering, “Why did he sweep out his tweets when it became clear the shooting was on rehearsal?” in the wake of the on-set shooting on the 21st of October.
Hutchins’ father continued, “And why did he fire the shot during the preparations? The revolver is the type of gun which doesn’t shoot before the trigger is pressed and Alec is partially guilty for causing that shot.”
“It is clear to me Baldwin fired the shot from his hand so it’s hard for me to understand how he cannot be held partly responsible for my daughter’s death,” Androsovych declared, adding that he doesn’t know whether Halyna’s son Andros, nine, will “ever fully recover” from the event, and explained that “Andros is slowly getting back to life, but this is huge blow for all of us.”

Anatoly Androsovych had previously stated he did not hold Baldwin responsible for the killing of his daughter. As reported by The Sun late in October in the wake of the shooting, Androsovych actually put the blame on the film’s armoury team, stating that he didn’t “hold Alec Baldwin responsible — it is the responsibility of the props people who handle the guns.”
Following the tragic incident that injured Rust Director Joel Souza and killed Director of Photography Halyna Hutchins, Alec Baldwin, who is also a producer on the film, took to Twitter to issue a rather tone-deaf statement.
“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred,” wrote Baldwin at the time.

The actor added, “I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

Rust Script Supervisor Mamie Mitchell also believes that Alec Baldwin is to blame for the killing of Halyna Hutchins on the film’s set, filing a lawsuit against the actor, the armourer, and the film’s producers one month after the tragic event.
As per the document, “Alec Baldwin intentionally, without just cause or excuse, cocked and fired the loaded gun even though the upcoming scene to be filmed did not call for the cocking and firing of the firearm.”
In a relatively recent interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos Alec Baldwin told his side of the story, making the fairly outrageous claim that he does not feel any guilt for killing Hutchins, stating that “Someone is responsible for what happened and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me.”

Baldwin also provided conflicting stories about whether the gun was cocked or not.
At one point in the interview he claimed he did indeed cock the gun saying, “So I take the gun and I start to cock the gun. I’m not going to pull the trigger. I said, ‘Do you see this?’ She says, “Well, just cheat it down and tilt it down a little bit like that.’ And I cock the gun and I go, ‘Can you see that? Can you see that? Can you see that?’ And she says…and I let go of the hammer of the gun and the gun goes off. I let go of the hammer of the gun and the gun goes off.”
However, in another part of the interview Baldwin says he didn’t cock the gun revealing he pulled “the hammer as far back as I could without cocking the actual…”

After doing the interview with ABC News, Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies stated that the actor may still be criminally charged for the killing of Halyna Hutchins and for injuring Director Joel Souza on the film’s set.
“Everyone involved in the handling and use of firearms on the set had a duty to behave in a manner such that the safety of others was protected, and it appears that certain actions and inactions contributed to this outcome,” Carmack-Altwies told Deadline following the actor’s interview.

She further explained that “certain individuals may be criminally culpable for his/her actions and/or inactions on the set of Rust,” and that she plans to “exercise my prosecutorial discretion to its fullest, including filing charges that are supported by probable cause,” as her office juggles “various legal theories at the time.”
“As the First Judicial District Attorney I have not made a decision to charge or not charge any individuals involved in the shooting that resulted in the death of Halyna Hutchins and injury of Joel Souza,” Carmack-Altwies asserted.
It is also relevant to note that Alec Baldwin promptly deleted his Twitter account, shortly after Santa Fe District Attorney Carmack-Altwies’ statement.
