Actor and left-wing activist Ron Perlman has taken to social media to share his opinion on the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, making the bold accusation that former President Donald Trump, Fox News Host Tucker Carlson, and Republican Senator Josh Hawley “extol [Vladimir] Putin’s worldview.”

“Just think, Donald Trump, Tucker Carlson, and Josh Hawley are the stars of Russian television right now,” wrote the Hellboy star to his 1.1 million followers on Twitter on February 28th.

Without providing any kind of empirical evidence that could effectively back up his accusation, Perlman continued, “Because they extol Putin’s worldview and make all Russians think this is what America stands for. Treason is too mild a word…”

However, just last week, The New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine under the Trump administration because the former president was unpredictable.

“[Trump] said yesterday ‘this wouldn’t have happened when I was president,’ or somehow he was too tough,” said Baker during a recent appearance on MSNBC. “It is a good question whether President Trump was volatile enough that President Putin didn’t know how he would react to, you know, something more aggressive in Ukraine.”

The New York Times reporter alluded to a comment made by Trump during an interview with political commentators Clay Travis and Buck Sexton, wherein the former president fervently asserted, “I know [Putin] very well. Very, very well [and] … this never would have happened … had I been in office, not even thinkable.”

Further, reports have also suggested that, during his time in office, Trump threatened Putin over his aggressive ambitions, noting that the Russian President seized land from Georgia under George W. Bush’s administration in 2008 and seized the Crimean peninsula during the Obama presidency in 2014.

“If you move against Ukraine while I’m president, I will hit Moscow,” Trump reportedly told Putin.

“No way,” replied the Russian leader, to which the 45th President declared, “All those beautiful golden turrets will be blown up.”

Putin’s comments from June of last year confirm that he saw Trump as a person to be respected on account of his unpredictability, asserting that current Democrat President Joe Biden was “radically different” than his predecessor.

“President Biden, of course is radically different from Trump because President Biden is a career man. He has spent virtually his entire adulthood in politics. Just think of the number of years he spent in the Senate,” Putin told NBC News’ Keir Simmons. “That’s a different kind of person, and it is my great hope that, yes, there are some advantages, some disadvantages, but there will not be any impulse-based movements on behalf of the sitting U.S. president.”

Under his administration, Trump also approved a $39 million sale of defensive lethal weapons to Ukraine, which included two Javelin anti-tank missile launchers and 150 such missiles in October of 2019.

Trump also approved a sale of lethal weapons, estimated to be worth $41.5 million, to Ukraine in 2017 to help the country fight off Russian-backed separatists approaching from the East, just months after his administration approved the sale of shoulder-fired rocket launchers manufactured by Texas-based manufacturer AirTronic to the Eastern European nation.

Further, though Perlman also accused Fox News Host Tucker Carlson of support Putin’s invading of Ukraine in the days immediately prior to Russia’s official declaration of war, but this is not quite what happened.

Rather, on the 21st of January, Carlson opened his nightly show by positing the question, “Why is it disloyal to side with Russia but loyal to side with Ukraine?” arguing that both are “foreign countries that don’t care anything about the United States.”

“Kind of strange. It’s all an absurd performance, but it’s all they’ve got in the end,” Carlson noted, explaining that “Ukraine is strategically irrelevant to the United States,” and pointing out that “No rational person could defend a war with Russia over Ukraine.”

He continued, “Nobody thinks a war like that would make America safer or stronger or more prosperous. Have you taken a look at our economy recently? Dangerous levels of inflation, a workforce in disarray. Wildly chaotic swings in financial markets, in case you ever noticed.”

Carlson then went on to explain that, were the United States enter in conflict with Russia, China would be the country that will benefit the most, pointing out the White House’s economic sanctions proposed against the Putin-led country.

“The Biden administration may use something called the foreign direct product rule to cut off Russia’s supply of semiconductors made with American technology,” Carlson explained.

In a sarcastic tone, the Fox News host added, “So depriving Russian citizens is good, we’re told, because Russian citizens are bad,” as he wondered “what are the long-term effects on us?”

“Russians are still going to have smartphones. They’ll just get their components somewhere else, meaning from China,” Carlson proposed. “The Chinese have already pledged to help, and they have every incentive to make good on that promise.”

Carlson elaborated, “In other words, the Biden administration will succeed in continuing to drive our two main global rivals closer to a permanent alliance with one another. How does that help America? Well, it doesn’t. Over time, it’s dangerous, and not just militarily. ”

In his tweet, Perlman also named Republican Senator Josh Hawley as a Russian collaborator when, in fact, Hawley has called for the country’s energy production to be halted and has chided the Biden administration for Putin “energy dominance”.

“We need to turn our energy back on in this country,” said Hawley last Thursday. “We ought to be the energy dominant country in the world. Russia is not a country, so much as it is a gas station,”  “That’s where Putin’s money comes from. You know what Joe Biden has handed Putin, his pipeline, has handed him energy dominance. That was a huge mistake. So, turn off Russia’s pipelines, turn on ours in our energy sector and we’ll show the world what we can do.”

Hawley has also introduced the American Energy Independence Act of 2022, which seeks to revert the Biden administration’s shutdown of energy sectors in America and return them to full production.

Hawley has also taken to social media to chastise Democrats that voted to protect Putin’s local production pipeline.

On March 1st, Bloomberg’s Steven Dennis and Daniel Flatley published a report on the growing energy situation, with Dennis later pointing out on Twitter, “[Democratic U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck] SCHUMER was asked about the 600,000 barrels a day of Russian oil USA is buying and Manchin’s push to replace it with increased U.S. production. He dismissed it as a small amount and said Dem focus is on fighting price gouging and monopolies to cut prices.”

Retweeting Dennis, the Republican Senator declared, “The Dems don’t care about energy independence from Russia. They voted to protect Putin’s pipeline after all. They don’t care about America’s strength. And now their left wing politics are weakening America and endangering the world.”

In a follow-up tweet posted just a few days later, Hawley encouraged Democrats to open the United States’ energy production in order to counter Russia’s energy dominance.

“Will Democrats agree to open up our energy production, full throttle – and shut down the Russians?” he wrote on March 3rd. “We are about to find out. I’m headed to the Senate floor to try to pass a bill to reverse the Biden energy shutdown and put our energy sector back to work.”

Ultimately, it seems Perlman’s blind left-wing bias has done a number on him, as neither Trump, nor Carlson, nor Hawley seem to be extolling “Putin’s worldview”.

However, such uninformed, reactive political takes are nothing new from the Hellboy star.

Just last month, he openly advocated for secession, claiming on Twitter that it was time that the United States was divided in blue and red states.
