The Walt Disney Company has reportedly cast transgender actor Talisa Garcia, whose real name is Joseph, in their upcoming Willow TV series from Lucasfilm.

Deadline reports that Garcia was cast “long before the storm developed surrounding Disney’s response to the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill and new wave of concerns emerged about on-screen representation in Disney productions.”

However, it’s unclear if there is any truth to this. The timing of this announcement comes just after The Walt Disney Company publicly opposed a Florida bill preventing “classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity” for children in kindergarten through third grade.

In response to the passing of the bill, The Walt Disney Company not only vowed to get the bill either struck down in the courts or repealed through legislation, but they would work around the bill and create content in order to indoctrinate children.

A statement from the company reads, “Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law. Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that.”

“We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.”

Disney CEO Bob Chapek in a company-wide email declared his support for the LGBTQ+ lobby, “Our employees see the power of this great company as an opportunity to do good. I agree. Yes, we need to use our influence to promote that good by telling inclusive stories, but also by standing up for the rights of all.”

He added, “I am committed to this work and to you all, and will continue to engage with the LGBTQ+ community so that I can become a better ally.”

At the end of the email declared, “I truly believe we are an infinitely better and stronger company because of our LGBTQ+ community. I missed the mark in this case but am an ally you can count on—and I will be an outspoken champion for the protections, visibility, and opportunity you deserve.”

This casting also comes after a Reimagine Tomorrow Conversation video call that saw Executive Producer for Disney Television Animation Latoya Raveneau reveal the company has been fully on board for her “not-at-all-secret gay agenda.”

She said during the call, “In my little pocket of Proud Family Disney TVA, the showrunners were super welcoming . Meredith Roberts and our leadership over there has been so welcoming to my not-at-all-secret gay agenda.”

Raveneau added, “Maybe it was that way in the past, but I guess something must have happened in the last, they are turning it around, they’re going hard, and then like all that momentum that I felt, that sense of ‘I don’t have to be afraid to have these two characters kiss in the background.’ I was just, wherever I could, just basically adding queerness. If you see anything queer in the show — no one would stop me, and no one was trying to stop me.”

Disney Production Coordinator Allen March also made it very clear that the company is targeting children with their disordered ideology.

He said, “All this content is going to kids, who don’t know any of this. Even if they are in a household like Heath that has supportive parents, they’re still getting all of this information from media of what is normal. There’s a lot of power to that and it just needs to be acknowledged.”

According to Deadline, Garcia “will play a Queen and the mother to Tony Revolori’s character who takes part in the quest. Garcia’s role is a small speaking part and the actress may ultimately only appear in one episode.”

In a press release from October 2020, Disney and Lucasfilm announced that John M. Chu would direct the pilot for the Disney+ series as well as serve as an executive producer. Not only did they reveal that Chu would be coming on board, but that Warwick Davis and Ron Howard would be returning.

Howard, who directed the original film, is now an executive producer. Bob Dolman, who wrote the original film is also returning as a consulting producer. The series pilot was written by Jonathan Kasdan. He serves as the showrunner alongside Wendy Mericle.

An official description for the series claims it “takes place years after the events of the original “Willow” film. It introduces all-new characters to the enchanted realm of fairy queens and two-headed Eborsisk monsters, and welcomes back its namesake hero, Willow Ufgood, performed once again by the unmatchable Warwick Davis.”

While Chu was announced as the director in October 2020, Deadline reported that Chu has since left the project. Not only did Chu leave the project, but his replacement Jonathan Entwistle left it as well.

Deadline’s Neelie Andreeva claimed in July 2021 that Stephen Woolfenden stepped in and shot the first two episodes

Warwick Davis introduced the cast to the series in a video back in November 2021.

Willow is expected to arrive on Disney+ sometime this year.
