DC Comics Delays The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive Movie Prequel Comic To October

The delay of Warner Bros. and DC’s upcoming The Flash film has now extended to its tie-in material, as a prequel comic filling in the gaps of Barry’s story between the events of Justice League and his solo outing has now been pushed back by several months.

Originally poised to released around this time when the film held a November premiere date, the miniseries The Flash: Fastest Man Alive will now hit shelves in October.

Following a report by Bleeding Cool that the book was put on ice after it was pulled from DC’s release schedule, the artist on the series’ second issue, Juan Ferreyra, set the record straight on Twitter.
“Nope, it will be printed later this year, so there won’t be such a gap between the comic and the movie,” he said.

Many came to the conclusion that this delay was done in order to allow DC to make changes to the book’s contents in order to correspond with an alleged series of plot-altering reshoots.
However, Ferreyra quickly shut down the speculation, telling one of the many fans who proposed this theory, “They Haven’t asked me to change anything in the comic.”

This shift to October will maintain previous plans by DC to release the series seven months ahead of the constantly-shelved film.
As no changes have apparently been made to The Flash’s plot, it’s story should still align with the 3-issue prequel arc, which will see Barry finding his way as a superhero and teaming up with his good friend and mentor Batman to fight Girder – who now canonically exists in the DCEU thanks to this this story.

“Race through the streets of Central City in this lead-up to the hotly anticipated blockbuster The Flash!” reads DC’s official solicitation for the series. “After Barry’s adventure with the Justice League, he’s determined to become a truly skilled and inspirational hero.”
It continues, “As a new threat emerges in Central City going by the name of Girder, Barry turns to Batman for advice on training to master his powers. Can the Dark Knight help show the Scarlet Speedster a way to defeat this metallic menace, or will the Flash be crushed by Girder’s strength?”

As the Kenny Porter written series rolls on, the Scarlet Speedster will also come up against notable foes Tar Pit and The Top, along with giving readers a tour of his forensics lab at the Central City Police Department.
