Amidst the ongoing defamation trial brought against her by ex-husband Johnny Depp, popular makeup manufacturer Milani Cosmetics has pushed back against the claim made by Amber Heard’s legal team that the Aquaman actress used one of theirs products to conceal alleged bruises received from Johnny Depp on the grounds that the specific item had not yet been release at the time of the supposed incident.

The claim in question was presented by Heard’s attorney, Elaine Bredehoft, during her opening statements (02:32:51) on April 12th, 2022.

Arguing against the claims that despite being supposedly abused the actress never had visible injuries to her person, Bredehoft presented a Milani Cosmetics ‘All-in-One- Correcting Kit’ to the court and declared to the jury, “This is what Amber carried in her purse for the entire relationship with Johnny Depp. She’s an actor. Do you honestly think she left her apartment, ever, without makeup?”

“Do you think that she would have wanted other people to see her bruises and her cuts?” she continued. “This was what she used – she became very adept in it and you’re going to hear the testimony from Amber about how she had to mix the different colors for the different days of the bruises as they developed and the different coloring.”

However, this claim did not sit right with Milani Cosmetics themselves, and on April 22nd, the brand took to their official TikTok page to refute Bredehoft and Heard’s defensive allegation via one of the platform’s short-format videos.

“You asked us,” the brand captioned their video, “let the record show that our Correct kid launched in 2017!”

In their upload, Milani Cosmetics begins by highlighting  the above claim and explaining, “take note: alleged abuse was around 2014-2016. Got divorced 2016 [ed. note: the couple actually divorced in January 2017]. Makeup palette release date: December 2017.”

The video then sees a Milani Cosmetics employee open up a catalog to verify the product’s identification before pointing to an internal document that explicitly states in large red text, “CONFIRMED RELEASED IN 2017” –  a release date which appears to stand in direct contradiction to Heard’s defense.

If factually untrue, this would be far from the first falsehood allegedly put forth by Heard throughout the course of her relationship with Depp.

According to the former Fantastic Beasts star, after Heard had severed his finger by throwing a large bottle of Vodka at him, he “went into…I don’t know what a nervous breakdown feels like, but that’s probably the closest that I’ve ever been.”

This emotional moment, Depp claims, was the straw that broke the camel’s back regarding Heard’s propensity for distorting the truth as he recalled in court that he then “started to write with my blood in my own blood on the walls little reminders from our past that, essentially, represented lies that she had told me, lies that I had caught her in.”

As of writing, neither Heard nor her legal team have responded to Milani’s refutation.
