Disney Releases First Teaser Trailer For Avatar: The Way Of Water

The Walt Disney Company and James Cameron released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming Avatar sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water.

In a press release, Disney detailed the film takes place a decade after the events of the original film and “begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.”

The film is directed by James Cameron. Cameron is also producing alongside Jon Landau. Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang all reprise their roles in the film.
They are joined by Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jermaine Clement, and Kate Winslet.

The film is expected to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2022. They also plan to rerelease the original Avatar film in theaters on September 23, 2022.
The original film arrived in theaters back in 2009. It grossed $760.5 million at the domestic box office and over $2 billion at the international box office for a worldwide gross of $2.845 billion according to The-Numbers.

The film followed former Marine Jake Sully as he joined an expedition to settle and mine rare resource called unobtanium on the planet Pandora. The expedition makes contact with a native people known as the Na’vi, who resist the humans’ control of the planet.
Sully and the humans attempt to make contact with the Na’vi using the Avatar Program, which allows Sully to transfer his consciousness into an artificial Na’vi body. He eventually makes contact with Na’vi by way of Neytriri, who begins to teach him the culture of the Na’vi as well as the secrets of the planet.
He eventually joins the Na’vi and leads them in battle against the humans who resort to brute force to remove the Na’vi from their homes in order to extract the unobtanium.
