Baldwin shared what he believes caused the rise in mass shooting in response to a question from pundit Clay Travis.

Travis asked, “Honest question: we’ve had widely available guns in this country for hundreds of years. Why did mass school shootings only really start in the late 1990’s with Columbine? What changed to make this happen after 200 years where they mostly didn’t? I’m interested in opinions.”

Baldwin answered, “Roe v. Wade codified the cheapening of life & a generation + of the Great Society alienating fathers out of the home + mind-bending drug use/abuse/over-prescription + the ‘War On Boys’ in government schools, to name a few.”

Baldwin previously hit on the idea that one of the main causes is fatherlessness.

Baldwin would respond to Dan McLaughlin, a senior writer at National Review, who tweeted, “School shootings are, as with many things, a multi-causal problem. But the thread of fatherlessness runs through a very high proportion of these cases.”

Baldwin replied, “Reveal medical and elementary & high school records of these killers. Patterns will emerge from their administration in loco parentis.”

If you are unfamiliar with the phrase “in loco parentis” Cornell Law School defines it as “a Latin term meaning ‘in [the] place of a parent’ or ‘instead of a parent.’ Refers to the legal responsibility of some person or organization to perform some of the functions or responsibilities of a parent.”

He would reiterate the lack of parenting and fathers in response to The Federalist senior editor David Harsanyi, who tweeted, “Another shooter from a broken home. I have no solution for this problem, but it seems important.”

Baldwin replied, “The shooters’ elementary & HS and medical records should always be fully released.”

“In loco parentis patterns under the school systems & meds will emerge that can lead to some preventative measures or even solutions,” he added.
