Marvel And Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Actor Anson Mount Takes To Social Media To Support Moses Ingram

Anson Mount as Captain Pike in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Disney and Marvel Studios actor Anson Mount, who recently reprised his role as Black Bolt in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, took to social media to post in support of Obi-Wan Kenobi actress Moses Ingram.

Ingram took to Instagram extremely early in the morning of May 31st or at the very end of the night on May 30th depending on what time zone you are in to share a number of messages she received via Instagram DM.

One read, “You’re days are numbered.” Some have interpreted it as a death threat, but it could also be her days as a Star Wars actor or as her character Reva are numbered.

Another states, “You are not the first n**** in starwarss fool.” It appears to be a rebuttal to Ingram’s comments made to Vanity Fair, where the actress said, “Obi-Wan is going to bring the most diversity I think we’ve ever seen in the galaxy before.”

She added, “To me, it’s long overdue. If you’ve got talking droids and aliens, but no people of color, it doesn’t make any sense. It’s 2022, you know. So we’re just at the beginning of that change. But I think to start that change is better than never having started it.”

A third message reads, “You suck loser. You’re a diversity hire and you won’t be loved or remembered for this acting role.” It’s unclear as to the veracity of this claim.

However, Disney’s parent company does indeed have racial quotas as part of their Reimagine Tomorrow initiative, the same initiative that Disney is using to groom small children with sexual orientation and gender identity through their programming.

The next screenshot Ingram shared was the thumbnail of YouTuber Mecharandom42 that reads, “Diversity Hire Human Shield! Operation Get Behind The Darkies Is Real!”

Operation Get Behind The Darkies is a reference to a South Park episode that sees a general sending a black unit to take the brunt of the enemy’s fire while a larger white unit is assigned mop up duty.

The thumbnail is a clear reference to Ingram’s comments to Vanity Fair, where she made it clear that Lucasfilm and Star Wars had been training her to deal with “racist online abuse.”

Ingram said, “It was something that Lucasfilm actually got in front of, and said, ‘This is a thing that, unfortunately, likely will happen. But we are here to help you; you can let us know when it happens.’”

She also noted that director and showrunner Deborah Chow and others at Lucasfilm were “putting the proper systems in place so I feel safe as we do the work.”

“Of course there are always pockets of hate,” she added. “But I have no problem with the block button.”

The final screenshot sees a user write, “‘AYO KENOBI YOU AINT FINND RUN FOREVER WHITE BOY’ ‘GET BACK HERE’ – Third Sister, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You have now been converted into the Saint George of Floydium of Star Wars, are you happy. How the f*** does an alien know eubonics.”

There’s no justifying or explaining this one. It’s wrong.

Ingram would also share a video message. She said, “Long story short. There are hundreds of those. Hundreds. And I also see those of you out there who put on a cape for me. And that really does mean the world to me because there is nothing anybody can do about this.”

“There’s nothing anybody can do to stop this hate,” she reiterated. “So I question what my purpose is in even being here in front of you saying this is happening. I don’t really know. I don’t really know. ”

Ingram continued, “But I think the thing that bothers me is that like sort of this feeling that I’ve had inside of myself which no one has told me, but this feeling of like, ‘I just got to shut up and take it.’ You know I just got to grin and bear it. And I’m not built like that.”

“So I really just wanted to come on, I think, and say thank you to the people who show up for me in the comments and the places that I’m not going to put myself. And to the rest of y’all, y’all weird,” she concluded.

Anson Mount would seemingly react to this sharing a photo of Ingram to his Instagram and writing, “This is Moses Ingram. She is a singular talent and a recent addition to the Star Wars universe. She has also been targeted by racists pretending to be fans because her mere existence threatens a skewed, dystopian fantasy that selectively omits the likes of Billy Dee Williams and others. We, the Trek Family, have her back.”

The official Star Trek Instagram account would respond writing, “There’s no place for bigotry in any universe.”

Weirdly enough, Mounts claim about individuals omitting Billy Dee Williams is contradicted by one of the actual screenshots shared by Ingram.

On top of that it actually applies to her as she was the one who said, “To me, it’s long overdue. If you’ve got talking droids and aliens, but no people of color, it doesn’t make any sense. James Earl Jones gave voice to Darth Vader in the very first film and Billy Dee Williams played the charismatic gambler turned industrialist miner in The Empire Strikes Back. There have been numerous black actors in Star Wars from Samuel L. Jackson to Thandie Newton to Carl Weathers.
