Petition Calling For ACLU To Dump Amber Heard As An Ambassador Surpasses 112,000 Signatures

There are more than a few petitions with Amber Heard’s name on them right now calling for her removal from different films and projects, and the number of signatures on many of them skyrocketed when Johnny Depp’s defamation suit against her took the internet by storm.

Taking the stand during the trial and losing the battle in the court of public opinion hasn’t been good for her PR image, and its negatively affecting her commitments to causes that you’d think she should have taken seriously and assumed with integrity.
A recent Change.Org petition is currently seeking to bring an end to Heard’s status as an ambassador of Women’s Rights for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and it’s finding galvanized support online.
The number of signatures now stands at 112,751, which is a jump from 60,000 at the beginning of the month, shortly after the defamation suit concluded.

“The ACLU extended a role of Ambassador of Women’s Rights specific to gender based violence to Amber Heard despite the fact that Amber Heard herself had been previously charged with domestic violence against a woman,” the summary begins.
“The Depp vs. Heard trial has brought much of this to light as well as other stories of abuse to other women and Johnny Depp. Additionally, her personal story was full of lies and slander. She is not deserving of [the] role as ambassador,” it continues.
“She’s a disgrace to women and women’s rights,” the petition adds. “She is an abuser and needs to be removed immediately!!!”

On the stand and before the trial, Heard accused her ex-husband Johnny Depp of abuse during their marriage. Depp countered that she was the abuser and presented evidence of his severed finger, excrement left in the bed they shared, and recordings of her taunting him.
Heard was caught on tape belittling Depp about his credibility– asserting no one would believe him if he came forward as a victim.
Audio of Heard saying, “I can’t promise you I won’t get physical again. God, I f–ing sometimes get so mad I lose it. I can promise you I’m going to do everything to change,” was also submitted at trial.

Heard contradicted herself several times under cross-examination and witnesses her side called, such as Kate Moss, did not corroborate her accusations. The jury thusly ruled in Depp’s favor and ordered Heard to pay him $15 million albeit that number comes down due to mandatory caps according to Virginia law.
Years earlier, their divorce settlement netted her $7 million, pertinent to the present petition and her status as an ACLU ambassador. Heard promised to donate a sum of that to the organization and reportedly failed to.
The other Change.Org petition wanting Heard booted from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has reached even more people and earned over 4.5 million signatures.

It first seemed as if that petition’s supporters would get their wish when a rumor claimed Amber Heard was being cut completely from the film. Now, however, a competing rumor posits she is being rewarded with 20 minutes of screentime despite her increasing unpopularity.
This intel comes from Aquaman 2’s latest test screenings where, it should be noted, the cut isn’t final and usually doesn’t have finished visual effects, so the breadth of Heard’s presence in the film won’t be decided until its release next year.
