On June 23, alongside the above key visual featuring Uzaki and her family, the first trailer for the second season of the anime adaptation of the popular manga by Take was released to eager fans.

Based on the events in the trailer, it looks like the second season will cover at least the School Festival and the ‘Meeting Uzaki’s Family’ arcs of the manga.

The trailer starts with Hana Uzaki (CV: Naomi Ozora, Kiriha in Tsugumomo) attempting, in her usual adorable and teasing way, to ask Shinichi Sakurai (CV: Kenji Akabane, Guido Mista in JoJo’s Bizarred Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind) to the School Festival, one of the few events that is held by their university.

Baiting Sakurai by pushing his buttons, Uzaki tells him that loners like him don’t enjoy festivals.

Uzaki has a 100 percent success rate pushing Sakurai’s loner button, and this time is no exception.

Though she’s proud of getting the reaction she wanted out of Sakurai, his expression says all the audience needs to know about how he feels about her teasing.

The trailer then shows a montage of Sakurai and Uzaki hanging out, as narrator Itsuhito Sakaki (CV: Tomoya Takagi, Keirick in Leadale no Daichi nite) notes that at the pace the two are going, he can’t imagine either of them making the first move to become something more than friends.

This pace is best summed up by the expression then seen on Ami Asai’s (CV: Ayana Taketatsu, Bambietta Basterbine in the upcoming Bleach – Thousand Year Blood War) face, who finds herself going insane from her inability to “see the outcome” of their relationship.

Mr. Akihiko Asai (CV: Yosuke Akimoto, Mike Baker in Detective Pikachu) describes this will-they-won’t-they anticipation as a new kind of torture for those around the two.

Next, the trailer presents Itsuhito Sakaki, who presents Sakurai and Uzaki with their vouchers to the festival and tells the couple that he enjoys their festival date.

Shocked by his presumption, the two immediately and strongly deny the idea.

The next portion of the trailer takes place during the Uzaki family meeting and begins with Tsuki Uzaki (CV: Saori Hayami, Yor in Spy x Family) thinking that because Sakurai is not Hana’s boyfriend, nor has he laid a hand on Hana, his goal from the very start of their cooking lessons was to pursue her instead.

The audience then meets Hana’s younger brother, Kiri Uzaki (CV: Yuko Sanpei, Boruto Uzumaki in Boruto: Naruto the Next Generations), who is pissed because he’s found out that the large amount of udon Sakurai brought was kneaded by him and not by some hot college girl.

With the reveal of Hana’s ‘boyfriend’ at the Uzaki family meeting, younger sister Yanagi Uzaki (CV: Seina Kato making her voice acting debut) finds herself completely curious and interested in what he’s like and how he will effect the family.

Not to be left out of his family’s affairs, Papa Fujio Uzaki (CV: Hideo Ishikawa, Pandora in the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn) just straight forwardly asks Hana is she’s in love with Sakurai, to which his daughter immediately denies she is love with him and claims that she is only taking care of him because she feels bad for him.

The trailer then cuts to conversation between Sakurai and Ami, wherein he admits that he and Hana had “an intimate moment”.

Based on the dialogue in this scene, it seems that a certain confession will be adapted for the small screen.

Finally, the trailer ends with a shocked Papa Fujio and the reveal that the second season of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hangout! will officially premiere during Fall 2022, whose highly-stacked schedule currently includes the debut of Chainsaw Man and new seasons of Bleach, Mob Psycho 100, and My Hero Academia.

The trailer also confirmed that the opening theme for the second season of Uzaki-san wants to Hangout! is Ichigo Ichie Celebration as performed by VR artist Kano and Hana Uzaki’s voice actress Naomi Ozora, with lyrics by Tomokazu Tashiro and composition / arrangement by Hidekazu Tanaka.

“We will be working with Uzaki-chan again for the OP of the TV anime ‘Uzaki-chan wants to Hangout!'” said Kano. “I’m so happy! If you’ve listened to the video that was released today, you’ll know that it’s going to be great again. The difficulty level is maxed out! Senpai! Please love and enjoy it as well as the anime!
