Jackman’s reprisal of the Canadian berserker was first confirmed on September 27th, courtesy of a short promotional video for the upcoming Deadpool sequel shared by the character’s signature performer, Ryan Reynolds.

Addressing the audience from a couch – in the same house featured in Taylor Swift’s All Too Well music video, no less – Reynolds opened the reveal by explaining to the audience that “we’re extremely sad to have missed D23, but we’ve been working very hard on the next Deadpool film for a good long while now.”

“I’ve had to really search my soul on this one,” says Reynolds as the video turns to a short montage of him performing various activities while wearing an uncolored version of Deadpool’s suit. “His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special.”

“We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning,” continues the actor. ” Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside…and I…I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here. And terrifying.”

“But we did have one idea,” Reynolds then declares.

“Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?” he calls out to his fellow X-actor, who moments before had walked into the background of the shot.

“Yeah, sure Ryan,” Jackman casually replies.

In a follow-up video shared by Reynolds the next day, the two actors sat down to further tease what fans could expect of their upcoming team-up.

However, instead of actual information, the pair instead treated fans to a humorous video of themselves playfully miming the film’s ‘plot’ while their dialogue is drowned out by Wham!’s 1984 single, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.

Yet, while the film’s stars remained mum on any further details, Geekosity editor-in-chief Mikey Sutton was not.

Taking to the site on September 28th, Sutton – who accurately broke words of the crossover all the way back in 2019 – reported that at some point during his MCU debut, Wolverine will find himself clad in his iconic yellow costume.

“There’s a deleted scene in The Wolverine wherein Jackman opens a suitcase,” said Sutton. “Inside is his trademark yellow outfit The Wolverine wherein Jackman opens a suitcase. Inside is his trademark yellow outfit.”

“Jackman never wore it then,” he asserted. “Sources claim he’ll finally put it on in Deadpool 3.”

As of writing, it is unclear if this “trademark yellow outfit” will be based on his 1980s brown-and-yellow suit, as seen in The Wolverine , or a new version based on his 1990s blue-and-yellow variant.
