‘The Flash’ Star Ezra Miller Pleads Not Guilty To Vermont Felony Burglary Charges, Faces Possible Sentence Of Up To 26 Years Behind Bars

In what may end up being the inciting incident for a nonbinary version of Al Capone having his criminal empire taken down by simple tax evasion, The Flash star Ezra Miller has pleaded not guilty after being charged with felony burglary in relation to a Vermont home invasion allegedly committed by the actor earlier this year.

Appearing before Vermont State Superior Court Judge Kerry Ann McDonald-Cady on Monday morning, Miller was charged with one count of “burglary into an occupied dwelling” and one count of “petit larceny $900 or less”
As per Deadline, if convicted, the apparent future of the DCEU “faces a maximum of 26 years behind bars as well as over $2,000 in fines”.

These charges stem from a May 1st arrest which took place, as per the Vermont State Police, “at approximately 5:55 p.m., [after] the Vermont State Police was notified of a burglary complaint at a residence [belonging to victim Isaac B. Winokur] on County Road in the town of Stamford, Vermont.”
“The initial findings indicated that several bottles of alcohol were taken from within the residence while the homeowners were not present,” the VSP added in an official agency press release. “As a result of an investigation that included surveillance videos and statements, probable cause was found to charge Ezra M. Miller with the offense of felony burglary into an unoccupied dwelling.”

According to Deadline, Winkour alleges that upon breaking into his home, Miller stole three bottles of hard alcohol – one each of gin, vodka, and rum.
This seemingly contradicts an earlier denial from a representative for Miller to Vanity Fair that rather than any sort of liquor, “the actor was cooking with their mother, needed rice wine, and grabbed that and another bottle of wine from the home of a close childhood friend.”

As part of Miller’s conditions for release from prison pending trial, the actor was ordered by Judge McDonald-Cady to explicitly avoid setting foot on the Winkour’s property, as well as contacting or harassing either Winkour or another individual by the name of Aiden Early.
Met with these terms, Miller’s attorney, Lisa B. Shelkrot, confirmed to the judge, “We agree to those conditions.”

Meanwhile, despite the actor’s ongoing super villain-esque crime spree, Warner Bros. Discovery is still banking on Miller and The Flash to help chip away a significant amount of its staggering roughly $50 billion debt.

In service of helping the studio’s Scarlet Speedster outing save face, in a brief statement provided exclusively to Variety on August 15th, the elusive actor responded to the numerous grooming accusations, arrests, and other legal complications which they faced over the past year by explaining, “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment.”
“I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior,” the DCEU star added. “I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”
