Blaze TV host Steve Deace shared the first trailer for the film adaptation of his novel, A Nefarious Plot, and the trailer promises both supernatural and psychological horror in spades.

Take a look at the trailer:

The film’s official synopsis reads, “On the day of his scheduled execution, a convicted serial killer gets a psychiatric evaluation during which he claims he is a demon, and further claims that before their time is over, the psychiatrist will commit three murders of his own.”

Speaking with the Epoch Times, Deace explained why he chose to invest in a film adaptation of his novel, “I do think media, academia, the lines are drawn. There’s no persuasion that can happen there anymore. Everybody’s gone to their sides.”

“Storytelling is the last place left I think where persuasion and real persuasion can happen,” he continued. “And that’s why my company we invested millions of dollars that I frankly didn’t have to make this movie. Because we think that it’s the last place left where real persuasion can occur.”

“Because just as the Lord died for us when we were dead in our sins, the people that we’re up against that are spreading this evil, he died for them too,” he said.

On Twitter Deace would provide further details in a thread started by criticizing the recent “He Gets Us” Super Bowl campaign.

He wrote, “A century ago when faced with modern skepticism, Christianity published “The Fundamentals” to an American culture flirting with apostasy. A century later, it faces modern skepticism with the emotion-driven ad campaign “He Gets Us” — void of any of the fundamentals at all, which also openly admits it is focusing on Christ’s humanity instead of His divinity/Lordship on purpose. Because that’s what this culture lacks, emotional affirmation. Man, why haven’t we thought of trying that before.”

In response to a user expressing their excitement and nervousness about watching Nefarious, Deace responded, “You know what’s really sad? In NEFARIOUS you will see a high lord of Hell show way more regard for the Lordship of Jesus Christ than the HE GETS US campaign does.”

On top of revealing what motivated him to make the film, Deace also announced a promotional campaign that will allow one person to be his guest to the premiere of the film in April.

Deace explained how it can be you writing, “Here’s your chance to win a trip to the premiere of my movie NEFARIOUS later this spring. Use #Nuremberg2 in your timeline to promote our new book RISE OF THE FOURTH REICH, and the most creative/impressive promotion will win a trip to be my guest for the the premiere of NEFARIOUS courtesy of Post Hill Press.
