New Rumor Claims To Reveal Why Indiana Jones Will Be Depressed In ‘Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny’

A new rumor claims to reveal why Indiana Jones will be depressed in the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny film.

The film’s director James Mangold recently revealed that Jones’ character will indeed be depressed.

He told The Hollywood Reporter, “We can’t hide from where we are in our lives — none of us can — and neither can Indiana Jones.”

He elaborated, “I wanted to follow Harrison’s own lead and simply deal with it straight on. It’s not just a movie about a hero in his twilight years who is called back into action.”

“It’s more than just that his bones might ache, it’s that his soul might ache, or that some of his optimism or sense fitting into the world might have evaporated,” he detailed.

He went on to justify the decision to have Jones lose his optimism and make his soul saying, “The mistake you can make in movies — and we’ve all seen movies like this — is where someone is of a ripe age, but the entire movie is continuing this charade along with them that they’re not that old.”

However, Mangold never explained why he’s lost that optimism or why his soul might ache other than Indiana Jones is older. A new rumor from scooper WDW Pro claims the reason is the death of his son Mutt Williams, who was first introduced in Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.

WDW Pro first prefaced his scoop telling Bounding Into Comics, “This is a film that has been treated in a kaleidoscope fashion, where there’s lots of things so they can adjust, and they’ve shot some additional things.

He then revealed, “Understanding that all this can change because they’re in a mad scramble, I would say. I think they’re in trouble. They have got to know they’re in trouble. But supposedly the way they get Indy to be a sad and disillusioned Jake Skywalker sort of fellow is that in the script we’ll have the death of his son.”

“And that may be off screen, but the character that Shia LaBeouf plays will have passed and cause him to be sad,” he added.

When asked about whether he would also divorce Marion, WDW Pro responded, “I don’t know. I don’t know that part.”

As WDW Pro notes the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny film is in flux. John Williams admitted in December the film was going back for reshoots.

Williams told an audience in Italy, “Here are three pieces from Indiana Jones 5. I felt we would be finished with Indiana Jones after four. You know Harrison Ford. You all know who Harrison Ford is. And Harrison is 78 years old, but he’s much younger than am. Well, I thought, ‘Aw if he can do five of them, I have to try to do the final five also.”

He then states, “So, we have just about completed the film. We have maybe another ending to shoot and to record. Maybe in a couple weeks.”

Last night, John Williams told his audience that they are shooting a new ending to Indiana Jones V in a couple weeks.

Harrison Ford also recently told The Hollywood Reporter that the original script for the film had a lot of jokes about Indiana Jones’ age, but they were removed.

He stated, “Yeah. In [Dial of Destiny] there were a lot of old jokes in the script. We took them all out. There is a moment where he observes himself in this situation and says, ‘What the f*** am I doing in here?’ But I hate what I call ‘talking about the story.’

“I want to see circumstances in which the audience gets a chance to experience the story, not to be led through the nose with highlights pointed out to them. I’d rather create behavior that is the joke of age rather than talk about it,” Ford explained.

Forbes also recently reported that the film’s production comes in just shy of $300 million at $294.7 million seemingly indicating it ballooned due to reshoots.

Forbes’s Caroline Reid noted PLT Productions, the subsidiary that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is going by in the United Kingdom, saw its “total costs come to a staggering $294.7 (£244.1 million) million.

However, this might not even be the total cost of the production as the company is still expected to provide another report that will be due by January 1, 2024.

Given the significant costs, it’s highly likely the film underwent significant reshoots.
