The Last of Us actress Storm Reid recently responded to “homophobic backlash” over the show’s blatant portrayal of disordered lifestyles and acts of grave depravity.

Speaking with Variety, Reid was asked by Katcy Stephan, “Bella, you’ve previously spoken about the homophobic backlash to the show, and why you’re not letting it scare you. Storm, what’s your take on this topic, especially knowing that there will likely be a response to this particular episode?”

Reid responded, “I think Bella put it perfectly a couple of weeks ago: ‘If you don’t like it, don’t watch.’ There’s so many other things to worry about in the world.”

“I think being concerned about who people love is just absurd to me. I just don’t — I will never understand it. I don’t get it,” she added.

Reid continued, “I think despite what people are going to say, if they don’t like it, I think there are going to be a lot more people that appreciate it. A lot more people that feel represented and seen and heard. So that’s what matters.”

“That’s where the work comes in,” Reid stated. “And that’s when it’s appreciated, and you prioritize looking at those tweets rather than the ones that aren’t the best.”

Ramsey previously told GQ UK, “I know people will think what they want to think. But they’re gonna have to get used to it. If you don’t want to watch the show because it has gay storylines, because it has a trans character, that’s on you, and you’re missing out.”

“It isn’t gonna make me afraid. I think that comes from a place of defiance,” she added.

As far as Reid’s claim that more people will be represented and heard, it’s unclear where she’s getting her information to back up such a claim. A March 2022 Gallup poll found that only 7.2% of U.S. adults identify as “lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender, or something other than straight or heterosexual.”

Interestingly, Gallup also notes, “The percentage has doubled since Gallup first measured LGBT identification in 2012.”

Secondly, Reid’s claim about there being much more things in the world to worry about rejects the idea that the sin of the Sodomites is one of the sins that cries to heaven for vengeance, and that the promotion of transgender ideology is also a sin given it encourages people to reject “the significance of the sexed body.

Fr. Edward Meeks notes how the promotion of transgender ideology is also part of “a blanket of demonic insanity” that is encompassing the earth right now.

He states, “Signs are all around that [the devil] is doing just that today in our world. Allow me to elaborate. Anytime I see millions of otherwise rational people doing irrational things I look for the demonic element in what’s going on. A blanket of demonic insanity has fallen upon the earth. And you and I are witnessing it before our very eyes.

He continued, “It is manifested in such things as … the surgical mutilation and infliction of puberty blocking drugs on pre-pubescent children in the name of transgender ideology. It is manifested in drag queen shows in public libraries targeting audiences of elementary school children.

“It is manifested in pornographic books in public school libraries targeting those same children. It is manifested in prime time TV shows depicting and celebrating Satan worship. I could go, but you get the point. A blanket of demonic insanity has fallen upon the world,” Fr. Meeks detailed.

It’s hard to find something more to worry over than someone’s soul falling into the clutches of Satan.
