Adding to the 23-year sentence he received after being convicted of similar crimes in New York in 2020, disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has now been sentenced by a Los Angeles court to a further 16 years in prison for a separate incident of rape and sexual assault.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lisa Lench sentenced the 70-year old producer to serve 16 years in jail on three counts of rape and sexual assault involving an unnamed woman, referred to as Jane Doe 1, and California Governor Gavin Newsom’s wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

As per Insider, “Of the seven charges from the four charging witnesses levied against him, the jury convicted Weinstein on three of them — all tied to Jane Doe 1 and none of the other accusers,” with the outlet noting that the jury was hung on all counts related to a Jane Doe 2 and Siebel Newsom (alternatively referred to in court documents as Jane Doe 4), but acquitted the producer of sexual battery related to a Jane Doe 3.

Weinstein was originally found guilty in his Los Angeles rape case in December 2022. At the time, Newsom said, “Harvey Weinstein will never be able to rape another woman. He will spend the rest of his life behind bars where he belongs. Harvey Weinstein is a serial predator and what he did was rape.”

“Throughout the trial, Weinstein’s lawyers used sexism, misogyny, and bullying tactics to intimidate, demean, and ridicule us survivors,” she asserted. “This trial was a stark reminder that we as a society have work to do. To all survivors out there – I see you, I hear you, and I stand with you.”

Following last week’s conviction, Weinstein’s representative Juda Engelmayer told Fox News Digital that the judge’s decision was not only unjust, but non-factual.

“It’s not justice, but a pile on for a man many people just decided should be cast off and discarded regardless of facts. It will be appealed,” Engelmayer decried. “The judge, just like the trial judge in his New York trial who was not reappointed to the bench, will eventually be called out for bias and injustice.”

He added, “There are many out there who will celebrate this action, but it is a sad day for justice and fairness, and I hope no one who is pleased with this is ever caught on the wrong side of cancel culture while hopelessly and voicelessly proclaiming innocence.”

As noted above, Weinstein’s conviction in Los Angeles adds to the results of his New York conviction in March of 2020, wherein Supreme Court Judge James Burke sentenced the Oscar-winning producer to a minimum of 23 years in prison.

The counts considered in Weinstein’s New York trial included committing criminal sexual acts and third-degree rape. More specifically, the producer was convicted for attacking his former production assistant Mimi Haley in 2006 and the rape of up-and-coming actress Jessica Mann in 2013.

Weinstein was sentenced to 20 years in prison for attacking Haley and given an additional 3 years for forcefully assaulting Mann in a Manhattan hotel. After last week’s conviction in Los Angeles, the producer’s full sentence now stands at a total of 39 years in prison.
