The upcoming The Flash film starring Ezra Miller recently received a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association.
According to the Motion Picture Association’s FilmRatings.com website The Flash has a PG-13 rating for “sequences of violence and action, some strong language and partial nudity.”
Obviously, the film was going to include sequences of violence and action as a number of them were showcased in the film’s trailers. Strong language has now become commonplace in many films so it’s no surprise that The Flash would also feature such language.
However, the inclusion of “partial nudity” is quite surprising and one can only guess what in the film caused this. It’s possible it could be when Barry Allen puts on his super suit. In the comics his suit is stored within a ring and he’s able to activate his ring to deploy the suit and quickly put it on as showcased in The Flash #227 below.

Another possibility is the introduction of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl.
Based on the trailers she appears to break free from some kind of laboratory so it’s possible there might be a scene where she is partially nude due to whatever experiments they were performing on her.
DC Studios appears to be banking quite a bit on The Flash to the detriment of other films such as Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Current DC Studios CEO James Gunn revealed the film would reset the DCU during an announcement revealing his slate for the upcoming DCU.
Gunn said, “First, we have Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Shazam has always been off kind of in his own part of the DCU so he connects very well. That moves directly into The Flash, a fantastic movie that I really love, that resets the entire DCU universe.”

However, he would seemingly walk back that comment responding to a user on Instagram who questioned, “James I’m seriously confused. How is Viola Davis still playing Amanda Waller? Aren’t you rebooting the DCEU 100%? That includes peacemaker, the whole suicide squad and the Snyder Verse. Like you said Robert Pattinson’s Batman & Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is else-worlds story.”
Gunn replied, “Flash resets many things, not all things. Some characters remain the same some do not.”
The official description for The Flash states, “Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.”
“That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for,” it continues. “Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?”
The film arrives in theaters on June 16, 2023. It is directed by Andy Muschietti based on screenplay by Christina Hodson and a screen story by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein and Joby Harold.
Along with Miller and Calle, the film also features Michael Shannon reprising his role as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul, Kiersey Clemmons as a race-swapped Iris West, Michael Keaton as Batman, and Ben Affleck as Batman.
