Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison reportedly took issue with the writing in The Book of Boba Fett where he claims Din Djarin took over his show.

During a panel appearance at Supanova Expo 2023 in Melbourne, Morrison revealed he was originally supposed to appear in The Mandalorian, but when the time came he never received a call to make it happen.

He said, “I was supposed to be in The Mandalorian season 3 but nobody rang me. I was waiting for the phone call in New Zealand, waiting and wanting to give up.”

Not only did he reveal he was supposed to appear in The Mandalorian Season 3, but he also took issue with Din Djarin showing up in The Book of Boba of Fett and taking over that series.

“Well that Mando guy stole a few chapters of my book,” he said. “It was painful watching him turn up with some black new lethal sword. And the way he turned up in my Book of Boba, he just destroyed everybody.”

He then asserted, “I’m sure this guy is… ah… ruining my show. But I couldn’t say anything. I’m not the writer, so I have to bear it I guess.”

This isn’t the first time Morrison criticized The Book of Boba Fett. Back in June 2022 he told ET Online, “We’ve got to bring him back somewhere. We’ve got to see the old Boba Fett.

He continued, “We reintroduced him. We found out some stuff. But I think it’s time to get him back to his badass ways. No two ways around that.”

Similar to his comments at Supanova Expo, he made it clear it wasn’t up to him to do that, “So, I think we sort of have that scope to go back there, but that’s out of my control. I’ll just see what happens.”

As for whether he might return as Boba Fett any time soon, he didn’t seem optimistic as he cited The Walt Disney Company’s budget cuts across many of their film production studios including Lucasfilm.

He said, “I think there is a few changes going on. We also come under the big umbrella known as ‘Disney’ now too. So it’s one of the last few conversations we had in L.A. The conversation started like, ‘Oh look we’re having a few changes. We’re having a few cutbacks.’ And when you hear that at the other end of the line, it’s no good trying to negotiate any more money that’s for sure. So we’ll see what happens. We’ll see what happens.”

The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger made it explicit he planned to cut significant costs at Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, and Pixar while also doing a better job at curating those brands.

During the company’s Q1 FY 23 Earnings Results call he said, “We are going to lean more into our franchises, our core franchises, and our brands. I talked about curation in general entertainment. We have to be better at curating the Disney, and the Pixar, and the Marvel, and the Star Wars of it all.”

And, of course, reduce costs on everything that we make. While we are extremely what’s proud on the screen, it’s gotten to a point where it’s extraordinarily expensive. We want all the quality. We want the quality on the screen, but we have to look at what they cost us,” he continued.

“So, we are going to continue to go after [subscriptions], but we’re going to be more judicious about how we do that. We are going to look carefully at pricing,” Iger said. “We’re going to reduce costs both in content and, of course, infrastructure, there’s a lot that we’re getting at that there.”

“Marketing is another area where we are going to try and rebalance marketing the platform versus marketing the programs,” he added.
