Dumb and Dumber Star Jeff Daniels Predicts “End of Democracy” if Donald Trump Wins in 2020

Dumb and Dumber and Netflix’s Godless actor Jeff Daniels claimed that if President Trump wins reelection in 2020 it will be the “end of democracy.”

Daniels appeared on MSNBC’s Deadline show to promote his stage adaptation of To Kill A Mockingbird. Daniels plays Atticus Finch. During his appearance he revealed that he was shocked that so many people who lived around him in Michigan were Donald Trump supporters.

“I live in Michigan and after the election, I was surprised at some of the people. I said, ‘Could you believe this election?’ And they go, ‘Yeah, isn’t it great?” Daniels adds, “And you are going ‘Whoa!'” He then points to his wife’s Facebook use about discovering another a Trump supporter. He explains, “You just didn’t see it coming.”

He then went on to predict that if Trump wins in 2020 it will be the “end of democracy.”

Daniels would go on to compare the current political climate to the struggles Finch faces in To Kill a Mockingbird.

“Atticus goes through this. I know these people. They are good people. There are reasons why.” He then refers to President Trump, “He is an apologist. He’s an enabler.”

He continues:

“I think there are people in the Midwest between the coasts who don’t know anything about this, who don’t care about this, they don’t have time for this, who have to make a decision now. You have to decide whether, like Atticus, you believe there is still compassion, decency, civility, respect for others, do unto others — remember that? Do unto others. All that stuff you guys believe in, and you still voted not for Hillary, or for Trump, where are you now?”

Daniels concludes by noting that if Donald Trump wins in 2020 it will be “the end of democracy.”

“Because your kids are looking up at you going, ‘but he lies.’ And I think there are a lot of people in the Midwest who are going—it might be enough for them. We’re going to find out if the big gamble is to go all the way to November 2020, which I agree, and lose, it’s the end of democracy.”

Daniels would then be asked which Democratic candidate he was looking at, but before answering thThe film star from there kept on hammering both President Trump and the Republican Party. He says that he’s waiting for someone “to stand up and be heroic”. While saying that he’s still waiting for someone to emerge and defeat them: “I need people to stand up and be heroic. Who are you because democracy is at stake.”

He was later asked by the MSNBC panel about the current group of Democrats running in the primary. He was specifically asked which one he was looking at or keying in on.

In his response, Jeff Daniels said that he “was watching intelligence, if, in politics, you know more than I, is a one hundred and eighty-degree swing I think that’s part of the eight years of Obama. Let’s go for the whitest guy we can. I mean I think there is an element out there in the middle of the country.”

He then points to Kamala Harris and Mayor Pete:

“To go away from the Toddler-in-Chief. Let’s go to Kamala Harris. Let’s go with somebody with a brain in their head. Let’s go with someone with some intelligence who doesn’t tweet all day. Mayor Pete. I’m looking at intelligence.”

He then mentions Joe Biden.

“I love Joe Biden. Is he the guy who can stand up and punch him (Trump) in the face and win? That’s for you guys to decide.”
