Alleged Marvel Studios Leak Reveals “New Avengers” Film Slated for 2022

An alleged Marvel Studios leak reveals the film studio is planning a “New Avengers” film that is expected to hit theaters in 2022.

The leak from 4chan alleges to reveal the release dates for eight upcoming Marvel Studios films including “New Avengers.”

Here’s the full list.

  • Black Widow – May 1, 2020.
  • The Eternals – November 6, 2020.
  • Black Panther 2 – February 12, 2021.
  • Shang-Chi – May 7, 2021.
  • Doctor Strange 2 – November 5, 2021.
  • Captain Marvel 2 – February 18, 2022.
  • New Avengers – May 6, 2022.
  • Ant-Man 3 – July 29, 2022.

And here’s the leaked image with the dates and movies.

For those wondering, these dates do match up with what Disney officially released when they announced eight new Marvel films.

The line-up makes sense and lines-up with my own predictions. I predicted both the Eternals film and Black Widow would debut in 2020. I also predicted Shang-Chi and Doctor Strange would more than likely drop in 2021. I also speculated that 2022 would see Captain Marvel 2 and a third Ant-Man film.

The only ones I appear to have missed were New Avengers and Black Panther 2. Instead of the Black Panther sequel dropping in 2021, I predicted it would show up in 2022.  I completely missed on New Avengers, instead favored Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 given reports indicated James Gunn would begin working on the film after he wrapped up his Suicide Squad reboot. The script for the film has already been completed, and they previously had a crew in place to begin filming. However, with Gunn’s firing those plans were obviously put on hold, and they might be on hold for a little bit longer. Cosmic Book News theorizes that Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might not hit theaters until 2023.

New Avengers

A New Avengers film was rumored back in January with interestingly enough the core team of [easyazon_link identifier=”1302905198″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Young Avengers[/easyazon_link] that flagshipped a short-lived run in 2005. The team rumored to be in this New Avengers film is Kate Bishop as Hawkeye, Hulkling, Iron Lad, Patriot, Wiccan, Stature, and new version of Vision. The rumor even indicated that Emma Fuhrmann would be playing Stature, the superhero alter ego of Cassie Lang. Fuhrmann played a teenage version of Cassie Lang in Avengers: Endgame.

If this rumor pans out to be true for this alleged New Avengers film, it’s possible it could spin out of Disney+ shows. There is a rumored Hawkeye show featuring Jeremy Renner that is expected to introduce Kate Bishop and see him train her. It’s quite possible, they might ditch Kate Bishop and pass the mantle of Hawkeye down to Clint Barton’s daughter, Lila Barton.

Hulkling could be introduced in the Captain Marvel sequel. The character is half-Skrull and half Kree. Captain Marvel dealt with the Skrull-Kree War and at the conclusion of the film, Carol Danvers indicated she was going to end the war. It’s possible she could encounter Hulking during that film.

Iron Lad could be a number of characters. It’s possible the mantle could be taken up by actor Ty Simpkins, who reprised his role as Harley Keener in Avengers: Endgame. Simpkins indicated he would be up for the role even indicating he would be down for the heel turn the character takes.

Another possibility could be a gender-swapped Iron Lad or possibly replacing Iron Lad with Morgan Stark, who might take on the Rescue codename. Morgan Stark was introduced in Avengers: Endgame as Tony Stark’s daughter.

Both Wiccan and this new Vision could possibly spin out of the WandaVision Disney+ show. In the comics, Wiccan is believed to be one of the reincarnated sons of Scarlet Witch. It’s quite possible  the WandaVision show could partially adapt the House of M storyline to bring in Wanda’s kids with Vision.

As for Patriot, he could also be introduced on Disney+ in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier show. Avengers: Endgame saw Steve Rogers give his shield to Sam Wilson. It’s quite possible with Rogers and Captain America out of the picture, Patriot could step in and fill that role. In the comics, he does have the Super Soldier serum granted to him via a blood transfusion from his grandfather.

Given this team line-up and the storyline they were involved in, in the comics it’s quite possible we could see a [easyazon_link identifier=”0785198954″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Secret Wars[/easyazon_link] storyline introduced with the Skrulls.

What do you make of this alleged new line-up? Do you think this is how they might introduce these New Avengers?
