Spider-Man: Far From Home Actor Tom Holland Open To Gay Spider-Man

Spider-Man: Far From Home star Tom Holland noted he’s open to the idea of a gay Spider-Man.
Holland made the comments during an interview with the UK’s The Times while making the rounds for the Spider-Man: Far From Home press tour.
When asked if he thought there could be a gay Spider-Man, Holland responded, “Yeah, of course.”
As to when a gay Spider-Man could appear on the big screen, Holland noted it was out of his hands, “I can’t talk about the future of the character because honestly I don’t know and it’s out of my hands.”
However, he would reveal some of what Marvel’s plans for the future include.
“But I do know a lot about the future of Marvel, and they are going to be representing lots of different people in the next few years. The world isn’t as simple as a straight white guy. It doesn’t end there, and these films need to represent more than one type of person.”
Holland would then note that his appearance on Lip Sync Battle as Rihanna helped a young boy who wears women’s clothes gain confidence.
“I met a lady in Texas who had a young boy in her school who likes to wear women’s clothes. He was bullied. Then I dressed as Rihanna, and she told me that boy felt so much more confident because he saw Spider-Man do it. That was really touching. Me just doing a dance routine helped someone.”
The question about LGBT representation isn’t a new one for Marvel or Spider-Man. Back in 2017, Spider-Man: Homecoming actors Jacob Batalon and Laura Harrier supported the idea of a “trans boy Peter Parker” during a Q&A on Tumblr.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will also feature transgender actor Zach Barack, who will play one of Peter Parker’s classmates.
