An alleged redesign of Sonic the Hedgehog for the upcoming movie has leaked.

Following the release of the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog live-action film starring Jim Carrey, fans expressed their distaste for the design of Sonic the Hedgehog. And distaste is probably an understatement as a number of fans were telling director Jeff Fowler and Paramount Pictures to burn it with fire.

Fowler took the fan feedback to heart and announced they would be redesigning Sonic. He wrote on Twitter.

“Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be.”

Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka would even praise fans for getting the character redesigned.

Due to the redesign, the film’s release date would have to be pushed back. Fowler it announced it would be delayed to February 14, 2020, writing, “Taking a little more time to make Sonic just right.”

Now, an alleged redesign of the character has surfaced online.

Ryan from Tails’ Channel reports the original user who posted the image indicated they got it from a friend at Paramount Studios.

However, he’s skeptical of their authenticity.

Nevertheless, he’s still attempting to verify whether the two images are legitimate or not.

Fowler has not posted on Twitter since announcing the new release date for Sonic the Hedgehog.

The film stars James Marseden as Tom Wchowski, Jim Carrey, as Dr. Robotnik, and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog.

What do you make of this alleged new redesign? Do you think it’s an improvement over the original?
