Kodansha Summons New Trailer For ‘Ranger Reject’, Confirms Worldwide Simulcast To Air Exclusively On Disney Plus
As if the manga’s recent introduction of the Neo-Rangers wasn’t enough to fill the world’s Henshin-based hyper meters, the upcoming anime adaptation of Negi Harub’s Ranger Reject (Sentai Daishikkaku) series has both released a brand new trailer and confirmed its plans for a worldwide simulcast.

For those unaware of Negi Haruba’s spiraling fresh take on the sentai genre, Ranger Reject follows the story of the Dragon Keepers, a colorful team of heroes who thirteen-years prior to the series’ start were successful in eliminating the self-explanatory Villainous Army of “Alien” Invaders and bringing relative peace back to the world.
However, in the wake of the army’s defeat, a number of its lower-level minions – aptly named Footsoldiers – find themselves trapped on Earth.
Eventually captured by the Dragon Keepers, rather than being outright eliminated by their captors, the villains are instead offered a deal: In exchange for their continued survival, they must help the heroes keep up their image as Earth’s protectors by participating in an ongoing series of ‘Weekly Sunday Battles’ – staged, formulaic fights held in full of the public which always end with the colorful team coming out triumphant and the invaders brutally defeated.
Fed up with the farce, one rebellious Footsoldier named D (CV: Yuusuke Kobayashi – Senku Ishigami in Dr. Stone) decides to infiltrate the Dragon Keepers training facility – wherein the world’s best and brightest all train together in service of one day making the actual team roster – with the hopes of not just finding his own freedom, but also helping his fellow Invaders complete their original mission of world conquest.
After some blackpilling and bonding courtesy of the Keepers’ in-training recruits, as well as a switching of places with the colorless cadet-in-training Hibiki Sakurama (CV: Daishi Kajita – Yamato in Bikkurimen), Footsoldier D’s infiltration soon leads him to discover that everything he ever knew about both the Dragon Keeper and the Invaders was all one big lie.

Released on February 19th, the latest trailer for the Ranger Reject anime expands on the events seen it its preceding preview and showcases such further moments in Footsoldier D’s quest as his clash against the Dragon Keepers’ corrupt leader, Red Dragon Keeper Sousei Akabane (CV: Yuuichi Nakamura – Hajime Umemiya in Wind Breaker) atop the roof of Red Battalion’s garrison:
His first encounter with one of the original Footsoldiers, XX (CV: Hina Youmiya – Anna Yamada in The Dangers in my Heart), who has taken up a secret residence in Hibiki’s closet:
As well as his final clash against Blue Dragon Keeper Shougo Aoshima (CV: Gou Inoue – Keith Goodman in Tiger & Bunny):
Alongside the latest trailer, Ranger Reject’s third key visual showcases members of the colorless cadet rangers including Tsukasa Shippo (CV: Masanori Shimizu – Mason Hart in Berserk of Gluttony), Renren Akebayashi (CV: Tomoyo Kurosawa – Rebecca in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Angelica Yukino (CV: Akari Kitou – Mikari Tachibana in 2.5 Dimensional Seduction), Kai Shion (CV: Yuuki Ono – Rensuke Kunigami in Blue Lock),Yamato Kurusu (CV: Ryouta Oosaka – Kaede Midorikawa in Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc.), Ranmaru Koguma (CV: Yukihiro Nozuyama – Fuwe in Ragna Crimson), Eigen Urabe (CV: Seiichirou Yamashita – Kakucho Hitto in Tokyo Revengers), Sojiro Ishikawa (CV: Daiki Hamano – Juu Senshi in Goblin Slayer), and Angel Usukubo (CV: Shiori Mikami – Krista Lenz in Attack on Titan).
As previously announced, the series will make its streaming debut on April 7th.
However, while it was unknown which platform Footsoldier D would lead his rebellion upon, February 19th saw Kodansha announced via the official Ranger Reject anime website that – unfortunately – their expanded partnership with the House of Mouse would see their signature Disney Plus platform serve as the official provider of the series’ same-day simulcasts.
Produced by Yostar Pictures, Ranger Reject will be helmed by Tiger & Bunny director Keiichi Satou and feature scriptwriting services from Keiichirou Oochi, who notably worked in the same capacity alongside series creator Haruba for the anime adaptation of his other manga, The Quintessential Quintuplets.
