A teaser trailer and extra visuals for the upcoming anime series starring the one and only King of the Monsters, Godzilla: Singular Point, give us our best look yet at what Netflix, Studio Bones, and Studio Orange have in store.

NX (“Netlix’s home of all things geek,” as their Twitter puts it) shared the teaser and a brief synopsis, tagging Toho and Orange in their tweet.

The synopsis goes like this: “When danger comes up from the depths, only young geniuses Mei, Yun, and their team can face the threat in Godzilla Singular Point! Take a first look at next year’s new series featuring the classic monster.”

Mei and Yun are the main characters. We don’t know much about them except they are scientists and possibly paleontologists.

In one of the new images released, and the trailer, Mei can be seen facing a laptop with a picture of a T-Rex behind her – implying she has a fascination with dinosaurs.

It could be nothing, or maybe a sly reference to the Godzillasaurus from Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, but has a chance of coming into play within the story.

The next released image shows what every fan wants to see: Godzilla charging up his breath, and it looks like it will be as blue as in the Showa period and the MonsterVerse.

Godzilla is clouded into a silhouette by a red mist or dust that either is emanating from or infecting all the monsters. Some speculate the mist is manmade and manufactured to drive the kaijus crazy.

The strange beasts are either emitting or bathing in the red stuff in the trailer – meaning there is a mystery Yun and Mei could be tasked with unraveling that the creatures are part of.

A freeze-frame of the former seems to indicate he is looking up at a monster, probably Godzilla, so he’d be on the case or a victim in some way of their destruction.

Godzilla: Singular Point premieres in Japan in April. It will go international later in 2021. Before that, more updates are likely to come out of G-Fest 2020 which is online this year like so many other conventions.

The event will be held on November 3rd, Election Day in the States, so make sure you voted early or sent in your ballots, kaiju fans.
