DC Collectibles Shows Off EPIC Batman: White Knight Statue and More at San Diego Comic-Con
DC Collectibles took over San Diego Comic-Con when they unveiled a number of Aquaman Movie statues showing off the Black Manta and Mera costumes. However, they also revealed a comic book accurate Aquaman statue with his iconic yellow chest piece and green pants.
But those were just a taste of what DC Collectibles had to offer. They rolled out over two dozen new statues designed by Sean Gordon Murphy, Joe Ledbetter, Chrissie Zullo, and Joelle Jones.
In case you didn’t catch the exciting Aquaman movie statues take a look at them below. Each of these three statues is 12″ high. They are expected to go on sale in November 2018.
Along with these Aquaman movie collectibles, DC Collectibles added a number of new Batman: The Animates Series characters to its action figure line including the first ever Batcycle.
The Batcycle is 6″ tall and 9.25″ long. It has a number of light-up features and free-spinning wheels that let the bike turn. It also comes with a double-sided display base. Along with the Batcycle, you get a Batman action figure that has two interchangeable helmet heads, articulation points that lets Batman ride the Batcycle, and a poseable cape.
Along with the cape they introduced Two-Face, Gray Ghost, H.A.R.D.A.C., and Scarecrow.
They also added new 6″ Justice League animated figures that will only be available for members of the DC Universe digital subscription service.
“Our animated action figures are a staple of DC Collectibles, and we’re so excited to expand the line into the Justice League animated series and add more Batman: The Animated Series characters that fans have been asking for,” said Jim Fletcher, executive creative director of DC Collectibles at DC Entertainment. “As this line continues, we are constantly challenging ourselves to think of new ways to bring the animated series to life. We hope fans enjoy giving their figures a ride on the new Batcycle and recreating their favorite scenes from the show with the intricately detailed display base.”
They also added two new artists to their line in Chrissie Zullo and Joe Ledbetter to their DC Artists Alley line. In this line the artists bring their unique style to 7″ designer vinyl figures.
Ledbetter will put his artistic style on Batman, Penguin, Catwoman, and Robin.
“I’m a huge Batman fan and to have the opportunity to work with DC Collectibles on a set of Batman characters is a huge deal in my world,” said Ledbetter. “I just love the idea of a bat in a Batman suit, a penguin as the Penguin, etc. There’s something there that’s quite funny and interesting and really excites me. I like to think that these animal Batman characters inhabit a parallel universe where Gotham City is entirely populated by anthropomorphic critters, including the Caped Crusader himself. I think the fun, enthusiasm and love of Batman, Robin, Penguin and Catwoman will shine through on these designer toys and I hope they find a special place on collector’s shelves.”
Zullo will put her own spin on Batgirl, Hawkgirl, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman.
“Working on DC Artists Alley is a total dream come true,” said Zullo. “Not only do I get to work with the great people at DC Collectibles and an incredible sculptor, Irene Matar, but the process of seeing my drawings come to life in 3-D was so much fun and such a great collaborative experience. I knew I wanted my designs to be almost animated, full of life and able to highlight each character’s personality traits, while still keeping the designs playful and confident. I think everyone who worked on this project nailed it, and I can’t wait for fans to see them in person.”
But maybe some of the best stuff they released is a Batman: White Knight statue designed by Sean Gordon Murphy.
There’s also a gorgeous Batman: Black & White statue by Klaus Janson.
There’s also a DC Cover Girls Series Mera statue by Joelle Jones.
Finally, a DC Designer Series Green Lantern Statue by Ivan Reis.
They’ve got a bunch of neat stuff coming out. Which one is your favorite? Are you gonna pick any of these up when they become available?
