DC Comics Announces Huge Details for Detective Comics #1000!
DC Comics finally revealed their plans for their landmark Detective Comics #1000 issue.
The issue will feature a number of DC Comics’ top talent including original stories from Neal Adams, Brian Michael Bendis, Greg Capullo, Becky Cloonan, Tony Daniel, Paul Dini, Warren Ellis, Geoff Johns, Kelley Jones, Joelle Jones, Tom King, Jim Lee, Kevin Smith, Scott Snyder and more!
Along with this top talen, the main focus of the issue will be an original story from Peter J. Tomasi and artist Doug Mahnke. Their story will introduce a brand new villain to the DC Comics pantheon. However, the villain will be familiar to fans of Rocksteady Studios Arkham series of games which include Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Knight. This new villain will be a a brand new version of Arkham Knight. In the video game series Jason Todd would be revealed as the Arkham Knight. It’s more than likely someone else will be behind the suit when this new villain is introduced.

- Tom King, Tony Daniel and Joëlle Jones
- Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo
- James Tynion IV and Alvaro Martinez
“Batman is one of the most enduring characters in popular culture, and his debut in DETECTIVE COMICS represented a pivotal moment in comics and pioneered a new type of superhero that would appeal to every generation,” said DC Publisher Dan DiDio. “Batman continues to have an impact on entertainment worldwide and the 1,000th issue of DETECTIVE COMICS is a testament to the creative genius of Bob Kane and Bill Finger and is a fitting tribute to Batman on his 80th anniversary.”
The book will also feature a 2-page spread by Jason Fabok that will spotlight the current state of the Batman universe.
Detective Comics #1000 will also feature a wraparound cover from Jim Lee, inker Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair!
DC Comics will also be offering a retailer variant cover program that will feature a number of prolific Batman artists including Steve Rude, Michael Cho, Jim Steranko, Bernie Wrightson, Frank Miller, Tim Sale, Jock, and Greg Capullo. Bruce Timm will also be creating an homage to Jerry Robinson’s 1942 Detective Comics #69 cover.

Detective Comics #1000 will be 96 pages long and will hit comic book shelves everywhere on March 27, 2019. It will retail for $9.99.
