Google Play Books Streamlines Comic Reading Experience
Google Play Books has been updated to streamline the comic reading experience for users on their smartphones or tablets. A new feature allows readers to vertically scroll through a comic book or graphic novel in landscape mode. All you have to do is flip your device on its side.
They are also improving navigation when it comes to finding the books and graphic novels you want to read. The Play Store is now equipped with a “Comics Destination” and curated lists of comic books from “New & Notable” to “Today’s Popular Stories” as well as character, series, and publisher specific groupings such as Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, Transformers, and Image Comics.
“Google Play offers binge-worthy comics from all the major publishers, including DC Comics, Marvel, Image, IDW, and Dark Horse,” Google says. “Whether you’re a long-time fan or just starting out, our collections will have something great for you, with series like The Walking Dead, Justice League, Deadpool, and Mortal Kombat.
With these new changes also come a sales pitch to get you hooked on the platform. A number of books are currently being offered for free for a limited time including The Walking Dead #1, Batman #13, Jem and the Holograms #1, Saga #1 and many more.
Will these new changes get you to check out Google Play Books or will you stick with how you currently read your comics?
