Jim Lee and Scott Snyder Shoot Down Rumor of DC Comics Reboot
DC Comics publisher Jim Lee and upcoming Justice League writer Scott Snyder debunked rumors that DC Comics would be undergoing a reboot in the near future.
Rumors of reboots are ridiculous. Just stop with the misinformation. Thanks and have a great weekend!

Rumors of a DC Comics reboot were started late last month by Bleeding Cool’s Rich Johnston who wrote a piece about what he’s calling DC Fresh Start. Johnston said DC Fresh Start would launch sometime in the late summer or autumn. He then would write several articles detailing there will be quite a few creative shifts at DC Comics. He believes that Grant Morrison will become the new writer on a Green Lantern series with Liam Sharp taking over art duties, Brian Azzarello will take over a new Suicide Squad story, Kelly Sue DeConnick will take over Aquaman, and David F. Walker will take over The Flash.
Not only did Johnston write about a DC Fresh Start, but he more recently created another rumor detailing DC Comics’ next event would be ‘Crisis.’ Johnston writes a lengthy history of the DC Comics universe until he gets to current events following Dark Nights: Metal where The Source Wall has been broken.
He doesn’t provide any details as to what the event will be about, but simply says it will be called Crisis. He claims “high-level industry sources” have told him about the event.
It appears they weren’t high enough as DC Comics publisher Jim Lee said his rumor stories are “ridiculous.”
If you look at the current solicitations for July, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of merit to the rumors either. DC Comics is launching Justice League: Odyssey written by Joshua Williamson and Stjepan Sejic.
Here’s the official solicitation:
Spinning out of JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE! When a cosmic menace threatens worlds beyond our own in the Ghost Sector, it falls to a new Justice League team to answer the call to battle! Cyborg, Starfire, Green Lantern Jessica Cruz and an out-of-his-element Azrael head to deep space inside a commandeered Brainiac Skull Ship. But as these wildcard teammates try to stop Despero from slave-trading Coluan refugees, they discover something that nothing in the universe could have prepared them for: Darkseid…who says he’s there to help?!
They are also launching Justice League Dark #1 by James Tynion IV, Alvaro Eduardo Martinez Bueno, and Raul Fernandez.
From the pages of JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE! Earth’s magic once belonged to them. Now they want the magic back. But who exactly are they? It’s up to the new Justice League Dark to find out and stop this nightmarish new threat at all costs! After the events of NO JUSTICE, team leader Wonder Woman guides the misfit magic mix of Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Man-Bat and Detective Chimp against enemies too fantastic even for the Justice League. Plus, what awful things are coming through the Tree of Wonder? Dark days ahead…
There’s also the brand new Catwoman series by Joelle Jones and they are also launching a whole new story arc in Harley Quinn as she is kidnapped by two Female Furies and taken to Apokolips. She will eventually join the Furies gain super powers.
And then if you really want to dig into the DC Comics’ upcoming timeline you only have to look at Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s Doomsday Clock. Johns clearly stated last summer that Doomsday Clock would take place one year ahead of the DC Universe.

Would DC Comics be launching brand new series in July that are pivotal to the current DC Universe if they are going to reboot in just a few short months later? It just doesn’t make sense. DC Comics obviously had a plan last year with Doomsday Clock as to how their universe would shape up. We’ll have to wait and see what exactly that will be as Johns and Frank continue to work on Doomsday Clock!
